Hehe, George Benson is a jazz guitar legend, but also smart enough to realise he was never going to make any money playing jazz. He worked out that a few years making pop songs would set him up for life, and he went straight back to jazz, with millions in the bank. I actually saw him live in Bournemouth (England) at the BIC in the early 90s. I went with my Mum who loved his pop stuff, and I loved his jazz. It was a bit surreal, because there was me, this jazz loving punk in all black, with blonde dreads (think skinny Jonathan Davis from Korn, but before Korn), watching G.B. with his Mum. Everyone else is in their Sunday best, suits, dresses etc., and I'm drinking Special Brew in the bar before the show (and intermission). It was magical !

@NOAH CASAS: THANK YOU! The generations raised on rap rely so heavily on lyrics, and seem surprised or disappointed even, when there's simply a melody, no matter how fantastic. I can't help but wonder if autotuning and discontinuing music programs in our public schools has resulted in a lack of appreciation and knowledge of the role that instruments play in music.

It's great to see you enjoying so many artists from the 1970s. I would like to recommend exploring a couple of favourites from my youth. First, Joan Armatrading, a fantastic singer-songwriter -- try 'The Weakness in Me', 'I Really Must be Going', 'Love and Affection' and 'Barefoot and pregnant'. Completely different, but bound to strike a chord with people who, like me, were teenagers in Britain in the 1970s, try the Undertones, from Northern Ireland, particularly 'Teenage Kicks', 'My Perfect Cousin', 'It's Goin to Happen' and 'Here Comes the Summer'.
