Samba Pa Ti gave all young musicians a look into the dances of South American/Latin dancing. That especially the Samba dance. Watch some excellent dancers doing the Samba. The dance style is dripping with sexuality and manliness-at least as we used to see it. Not to say anything about what’s right n’ wrong. Just, that’s Samba!

This past Saturday afternoon, my (step) dad was clinging on in his hospice room. I started playing a few tunes he liked, on my phone. The studio version of this was the 2nd track I played - while my sister and I each of us on his bedside, held his hands. He squeezed our hands when he could, even getting into it as if he were air guitaring..... the man was smiling....... 24hrs ago around this time, we lost him. He introduced me to this song. So now whenever I hear it, it's *HIS* song. Folks, if your dads are alive & well, give'em a hug just that much more tighter, and tell'em you love'em.

Very wise words. My dad had dementia and couldn’t always remember who we were, but he would happily sing along whenever we played his favourite old songs. Music is so powerful and I’m glad your family shared that with your dad before he passed. May he rest in peace

I love this man! I have listened to him for over 40 years. This is my absolute favorite song of his. Thanks for choosing it! If you hear 3 chords of his guitar, you know who's playing. He has his own original sound. He has a song featuring Michelle Branch called "The Game of Love." His solo in it is phenomenal. Santana once said " I don't play the music. The music plays me."

Carlos Santana has a brother, Jorge, who also had his own band in the 1970's called "Malo." They had a hit song called "Suavecito" that's really tasty! Jorge unfortunately passed on in 2020 😢 Also hit up Linda Ronstadt with the Chieftains "La Virgen De Guadalupe". The Chieftains are an Irish band, but the album Santiago is an homage to Galicia, an autonomous region of Spain where the language, music, and culture retain a distinctly Celtic influence from the area's original inhabitants.

Every song is great, including this one of course, but also Black Magic Woman, Oye Como Va, Incident at Neshabur, on and on... They also flow well together. Great review y'all. I've had the pleasure of seeing Carlos Santana perform live over the decades coast to coast. I recently saw him perform last July , Santana and his band sound just as good as he was 20 years ago. A truly world class act. He always attracts top talent to work with him in studio and on tour. One of his finest works was the 'Super Natural" album . Two of my favorite tracks are " Maria Maria" and "Put Your Lights On". I think you'll enjoy reacting to them.

For pure Latin Rock by Santana, you need to check out Corazón Espinado with Mana, another awesome Latin Rock band from Mexico. Original music video. This was on his comeback Supernatural album that Smooth/w Rob Thomas was on. Along with Maria Maria and Put Your Lights On with Everlast. This Woodstock guitar legend from the late 60s came out with Supernatural 30 years later in 1999 and won 9 Grammy Awards breaking Michael Jackson’s Thriller record.

He's such a treasure really. You know you're a good guitarist when you have Jimi Hendrix complimenting you. And Santana is really generous with working with other musicians. Probably one that isn't that well known, which sucks because it's a great song, is the song he does with Michael Jackson "Whatever Happens". You can just tell in that song the respect they have for each other. Please check that one out. 😎👍

He did an absolutely barnstorming version of 'Black magic woman' which had us all on our feet at the end applauding this guitar playin god.... This song brings back great memories of my dad, who passed away last year. He was a radio DJ in the 70s in the Wiregrass area of SE Alabama. Samba Pa Ti was the song that he always signed off with. And people would call in and request "the long version", which involved my dad switching between two separate turntables with the same record on each. While one played and was being broadcast, he'd que up the other at a specific point so that he could simultaneously stop the first and start the second, which allowed him to extend the song seamlessly for as long as he felt like swapping back and forth. I appreciate the trip down memory lane. Love and miss you Dad ❤

Yes, ignore the first line of the song and don’t look at a video. This song is perfect when you’re driving home at night by yourself in the car. You can turn up the music real loud and you sing with him!!!

I found your channel by accident a couple weeks ago and have been binge watching all the 60's and 70's music reactions. It's like reliving the soundtrack of my youth. I have no idea of your ages but it warms my heart to see young people enjoying the same music I love. Also I'm impressed with how well you are able to understand the context of many of the songs. 👏

A must for a Latin choice, The Girl from Ipanema, it was a worldwide hit in the mid 60’s and won a Grammy in 1965. Music by Antonio Carlos Jobim. Please check it out, beautiful tune.

I never saw Santana in concert but did see him and the band rehearse. Only time I ever seen any band or vocalist rehearse. Love Santana. Like his music he's aged very well. I enjoy this song. Sinatra- That's Life Steely Dan - Peg - Black Cow, Aja, Kid Charlemagne, Hey Nineteen, FM ( No Statc At All ), Babylon Sisters.

There are opportunities to go really heavy for Hispanic Heritage Month. Check out "Fundamental" by PUYA out of Puerto Rico and "Roots Bloody Roots" by Sepultura out of Brazil.

Though Roy Clark is not Latino/Hispanic, you should still check out his live performance of "Malagueña." It is nothing short of amazing.

For another Hispanic Heritage reaction, please consider “Suavecito” by Malo (1971), a band that includes Carlos Santana’s brother Jorge Santana. Wikipedia calls it “The Chicano National Anthem” - I don’t know about that, but it is a beautiful song.

That's how you make a guitar sing. 🥰 What else can I add? Carlos Santana is one of my heroes and an epic guitarist. ❤❤❤

Carlos is The Zen Master of guitar. He's also one of a few players that you can identify after a few notes. For your next guitar instrumentalist you should go in a different direction and check out Joe Satriani: Surfing With the Alien, Satch Boogie, The Mystical Potato Head Groove Thing (my fave), Summer Song 🤘🤘

As a VERY amateur guitar player, I’ve always found Santana’s style to be absolutely entrancing.. he’s definitely one of my op 5 guitarists!

One of the greatest "single note" lead players. I'm glad I got to see him live working at music midtown festival in Atlanta magic. Been listening since I was 12. 2974. Sometimes it's not how many notes you can play it's what you can do with only one. Love you guys. Just keep digging

I love his guitar. So many different sounds come out of it and he can make it sound like most any other guitar. Jay, you have to do Steve Vai guitar solo "For The Love Of God" with the orchestra. Dude!!

Carlos Santana makes Magic happen and you never know exactly what you are going to get, Carlos feels the music so much he sometimes changes the notes or tempo mid stream so Kudos to the rest of the band who need to sometimes adjust to suit where Carlos has gone. It is said that certainly in their early days there was not 2 performances of this song that were exactly the same. Love, Love, Love Santana. Please do more

True. I made a compilation of Santana instrumentals. They are fantastic. Neal Schon has several a well. I can say they transpose well to saxophone. That's how I play them because I suck at guitar and string instruments.
