Another great lesson Chase. I always thought Benson's playing was too difficult to learn but the way you break it down makes it possible. Definitely would like to see more lessons on Benson

This really does a great job showcasing practical methods to try matching the mindset of Benson. Great work man! I like this much more than just a theory analysis (I freaking love that stuff too though).

Glad you liked it! I'm always trying to connect theory and application 🤘

Really good video Chase - thanks for the breakdown. I listened and transcribed parts of the solo right after your previous video and this breakdown of the different line ideas (in the four categories) is definitely more helpful than just an arpeggio and scale suggestion without referring to the actual lines in Benson's solo. Nice work and thanks! (Sorry for reposting the comment - I posted from the wrong YT account just now lol) :p

This is so so cool man - I'd love to see a video where you discuss "Dom 7 Vocabulary" - I have some ideas, but would be great to see your ideas. I feel I 'run out of steam' when faced with more than a couple of bars of the same chord ... I like things like: Major Scale, Mixo stuff, Scales in 3rds, 6ths, sequences of 3 and 4, String Skipping, Triads, Arpeggios, 6ths, triad pairs (Major 1 tone apart), Stacking triads R-3-5; 3-5-7; 5-7-9 etc. Would love to see your thoughts on some practical applications of what you would play if you had to play over a Static G7 vamp for 4 mins (would you 'imagine' a 1 chord to get a resolution, or imagine a ii chord to get some movement??) - quite a deep subject maybe.
