George is the one that turned me on to Wes And Nat King Cole. I had the pleasure of talking to him years ago when his record "The Other Side of Abbey Road" was out. My brother ran a theater in Cincinnati that showed "art movies",and on the weekends he had Jazz musicians come in. I was a kid at the time,and told George I loved the way he played and sang,and he told me I should listen to Wes Montgomery play and Nat King Cole sing. Prior to that,I had never heard a musician praise others instead of himself. George is forever my hero.

George played on Miles Davis Miles in The Sky album on a tune called Paraphernalia! It would have been interesting to ask him about that experience.
I love this so much! This video is a gift! Thank you! ❤

Is it time for a musimentary of George Benson. Can we get a biopic of Uncle George, The legend that is George Benson? His story deserves to be retold if he would agree. Maybe something different from the way others have been told. I'm sure as a Jazz man something creative in the retelling would be apt.

What Wes album is Benson referring to (with the track "Round Midnight")?
@marktierney3938 Жыл бұрын
The Wes Montgomery Trio I think.
@nevertoofast2 Жыл бұрын
The version on the Trio record was recorded in 1959. What Benson was referring to was the one on the second record he did with Jimmy Smith
