When you think that the pitches were awful, no shin pads, tackles were career threatening, often played with injuries. You cannot compare this genius with the modern day footballer. He was a one off, never to be seen again, thanks George for all the great memories you gave us United fans.🙌👏👏🙏

Easily , he’s very egotistical, try’s to make out that spunking your career away is cool, when you finish playing top level at 27 years old just so you can drink is a terrible thing, not many get the opportunity Best had given to him and he obviously wasn’t grateful as he threw it away, he stole money out of a woman’s handbag , plenty to dislike him about……

@@samuraininjarockstar9355 We all have our demons my friend some harsher than other, yes he was blessed with a gift, yes he was a womaniser but if you listen to him giving interviews sober he had a good heart. It was a shame alcohol got the better of him as it did with many other celebrities with a gift. Dig deeper my friend and try to understand alcoholism is a disease, unfortunately it got the better of him. But he wasn’t as bad as you seem to think.

@@crashbangwhallopwhatavideo agreed, he never should have been given that transplant. You normally have to have stopped drinking & deemed suitable, he wasn't but he's George Best & the Transplant people thought it good publicity. Someone died for him & he threw that gift away. I don't blame him, more the transplant people really, but he had no shame.

Carol gately, well said thats so true. The press really are monsters, they remind me of a pack of about 40 hyenas that will sink there teeth into anything that they can get at. I would end up killing one of them. And i love it when i see one of them getting a right doing for at least 3 minutes, wich is a long time when getting your face caved in. And the rest of them all run away lol just like the true rats they are. They dont help each other, its each to there own, dog eat dog rat race with that lot.

George Best was simply the best footballer in the world at the time. He lost the fire in his belly early on, and he quit the game in 1972. Of course, it was essentially a long slow slide into an alcoholics death. Very sad, but as they say, he did it his way. It's worth remembering that at the time he played the pitches weren't pristine and well cared for - they were waterlogged, full of holes, and uneven. Just extraordinary. Why did people want to fight him? Well, look what personalities go through today, it's no different. He could never again be the "man on the street" after his football days.

He just learnt to booze, it´s the culture. it is illness, it changes the body, it is really hard to get rid of booze. God bless his soul. He went to an alcoholics anonymous meeting. "My name is George Best and I´m an alcoholic. They said yes, we know." He was so witty and fast.

The guy was the fifth Beatle apparently... To me The Busby Babes were an incerdible team. Best, Charlton,Law,Crerand, Stepney,Folkes,Stiles... The Greatest team ever after all the Munich disaster... Love you mate. I was at that game. Just done an interview with inside United their official programme and i maimly talked about the glory days. Matt Busby etc. Gob Bless you George. The worlds greatest player ever....David Fielding. The Chameleons. Love to all. Xxx
