The first and last time I visited with my grandma in hospice, she had George playing on repeat. Her lungs were full of mucus and her breathing was labored. But the whole time She had George lifting her Spirit. I saw her Monday and she passed on Saturday, getting to meet him face to face.

amazing how his interpretation and style got much freer, and more moving, into this elder years, compared to his youth. of all the versions I have listened to by big names, so far this one is the only one where he really takes liberties (well, other than mahalia) , and stretches out the timing on "with arms wide open" , and "he'll pardon you" - and with so much emotion - so effective and moving! no, it is a great interpretation and rendition.

Name spelled wrong in the caption for this video, but thanks for sharing it. So glad we were graced with your presence here on earth for 104 years, Mr. Shea. Your voice was golden and you also left us "The Wonder Of It All," which you wrote and the music to which you set Rhea Miller's poem "I'd Rather Have Jesus." You were my parents' favorite singer, and I've enjoyed hearing your recording for years (and one live performance.

Mr. Shea's singing is wonderful. I look forward to meeting him one day - hopefully I'll have a voice then and I can join him as a background singer. That will take a really great miracle, but God is able.
God bless you and thanks for posting these. Please put "Everytime I Feel The Spirit" by sir George Beverly Shea. It's one of my favorite! If you don't have it please tell me where I can find it. Thank you!

MrReasonablethinker ummm, pretty sure i'm right.

MrReasonablethinker I'm not sure how that is insulting (McMahon was a beloved entertainer for decades), but then many Christians seem to look for reasons to consider themselves victims...
