All of my GF grills have gone bad within a few months after buying them. I will try to replicate your fix. Thanks for posting.

You're welcome. If the top part doesn't heat, it's likely a bad wire. Imagine if these were quality made and the wire wouldn't break, they'd never sell as many as they did.

@@jaykay18 It's almost like the cheapest materials were chosen on purpose to make the item disposable to encourage buying a new machine every few months or years.

The higher resistance of the aluminum wire versus copper just adds to the heating effect. Only the finest of chinesium.

@@jaykay18 well mine had those special screws which are similar to a tork driver but have a pin in center...since i did not have that type of driver i ended up buying another one..was $18..and imo better design than last one...its cooking up a chicken quarter perfect...thanks

@@roadstar499 That's called a security torx screw. Bits are easy to find for it. Harbor Freight Tools, big box stores, and home improvement centers likely sell bit sets that include them. I have a whole variety of different bits here for just about anything that comes across my workbench.

Thanks. I've blown myself up plenty so I'm not worried about it. Either that or I know what I'm doing, I forget which!

Fucking piece of crap I have the same problem. Checked everywhere except inside the hinges. I had an older one before and that one was an easy fix. Just throw the crap out and get another one.

Here in the US it's pronounced "SAH-der", and that's why I've been saying. In other countries, they may say "SOL-der".
