Just going the distance with Foreman was a victory. Only a handful did.

Yes, Everett "Bigfoot" Martin was tough and had the heart of a 🦁! "Big" George is the hardest puncher of all-time.

Hi happiness at the end, just because he didn't went KO, says a lot about Foreman's power and Martin's respect. Awesome scene!

Bigfoot Martin had a reputation for fighting his hardest when he took the biggest shots from his opponents, as well as being a survivor, as was the case here vs George Foreman!

One of only 6 people to go the distance with arguably the biggest puncher in heavyweight history. Martin is a psychopath.

At least Eric Martin didn’t do the “Tommy Morrison Two-Step” some people did to go the distance with George.

So I got a question. Did Everett martin have a football helmet for a skull? I know he got knocked down, but when he got back up he just went right back to absorbing foreman's power punches. Not the best fighter, but otherworldly toughness. Also thanks for making these accessible to all us boxing fans.

For years he was the only guy went the distance with Herbie Hide, even after 40 fights, he went the distance with so many top guys, Bowe only stopped him on cuts.

@@daweilee1986 he was a true hard man. I feel like bleeding and body shots were the only thing that could stop his slow but relentless attack. I didn't realize he went the distance with hide. That's impressive cause as you know Herbie could crack

He beat Tim Witherspoon by a 10 round split decision, giving him his 4th loss. All of Tim's other losses at the time were to Larry Holmes, Pinklon Thomas and James Smith. So pretty impressive. Except for the fact that Tim won that fight but got robbed

Some fighters will say they took it easy or wanted to punish the opponent more, but I think George was being honest when he said he held back to not ruin Martin’s life/career in the post-fight interview of this vid. He went more for body shots than head shots though he had openings and didn’t press the advantage at times as much as he could’ve, like after the knockdown in the 8th. Nice of him. Kind of stinks BC he’s the KO Machine, but good exercise for him, IG

Bigfoot himself claimed Foreman and Bonecrusher Smith were the two hardest punchers he encountered.
@MZ-zu7wk
@MZ-zu7wk Жыл бұрын
@@Shovelhook Foreman didn't have fast twitch explosive punches like Tyson or Shavers, he had super heavy punches that hit like wrecking balls. Different types of power, but both devastating. Plus, I think Foreman was a bit faster than people give him credit for. Especially in his early days, and in his comeback, he shortened up his punches so his fist didn't have to travel much of a distance to reach its target.

I wish someone out there with the means to do so would work on collecting, cataloging, and most importantly REMASTERING as many classic boxing fights they possibly could. I guarantee there is enough of a market out there for them to at the very least not lose money. I know a business model of "not losing money" is bad business but it would have to be done by someone who was really passionate about doing it and not just interested in making a buck. I know I would if I had the money and time it would take to accomplish. Mike Tyson where you at?

George never hit him with a real George Foreman power punch 1 uppercut and then he played with him, the same way he did with many many others fighters he did not want to hurt them bad real bad, George could kill a man if he hit with all he had and connected it's just that simple .

I really don't like it when commentators ask fighters before the fight what their strategy is, and when the fighter says "its a secret" the commentators go away and assume "they don't have a fight plan". No! They just don't want to reveal it on the air. It could get to the opponents corner so easily.
