Nothing to do with the Thatcher years. Learn some history . What she did if for he own evil political agenda was shut down coal mines leaving towns and villages in devastation for decades. And of course poll tax was unpopular! but she wanted everyone to have a equal equity stake in the country because all, and everyones productivity matters! Plus, all levels of income and living standards were better at that time, a direct result of her other policy’s and the poll tax was the way to drive the country further still.... she was a legend, she economically achieved more and did more good than any politician has since before WW1.... unpopular but needed! According to stats, 50% of everything we see as British such as Heathrow airport, railways, ports, boots, Waterstones (bookshop) are now foreign owned. The thatcher government made it easy for foreign take overs of not just British companies with a wealth of knowledge and expertise but also national assets.. where as foregin take overs are common else where, there are rules.. for example in Germany they ban foreign takeovers of allot of technology & engineering companies etc to keep the knowledge in the country.. Britian sells all its best innovation startups to forigners because they’re forced to by some hedge fund in London.. these very situations are a legacy of thatchers policies..why the hell are we forced sell our valuable knowledge and expertise to foregieners to keep city financial firms happy? Remember there are rules allowing firms in the city to to just this!! there is somthing called national interest.. rules like other places should exist to protect our own... jobs, pride, social fabric.. Britian has become a dimmed down, minimum wage, skill less nation with a very rich capital because of the Tories.. the tories created cooperate London which has destroyed our nation and made us all slaves to foreign firms who do not share the passion we do for Britian.. we need strong leaders to change this now! Brexit or not.. we need good leaders that will make us proud again... we can’t keep letting cooperate London destroy us, we can’t keep letting foreigners buy out our country and take jobs away and not paying Uk tax... We earn more tax by making a money ourselves than for a rich foreigner to buy a London property.. this is why there are cuts.. the government has created a very friendly buisness climate for the rich, so they can avoid allot of tax.. who suffers?? Us!! I’m not racist.. I think multicultural societies are good.. but don’t sell our nation off.. let the nation be owned and run by us Brits.. white black or whatever.. as long as we hand on heart are proud of being British.. we will make the nation grow and provide jobs to people.. give us a chance.. stop letting only rich foreigners and London finance make money!

I love George in his role opposing the US and the worlds modern political corruption but I was also there, back in 1984-85, a young steel worker, when the unions were dragging the country down the drain. The abuse of power by the gobshite union leaders and stewards was sickening to behold. Arthur Scargill had only one aim, to be the man that brought down the Tory government. He had not an iota of genuine compassion for his striking minors. He was on full pay for the whole period of the strike and then accepted life presidency of the miners union despite it's flagrant undemocratic nature. I reluctantly walked out of the gates on a number of occasions when loud mouthed bully boy shop stewards cajoled and intimidated workers into strike action for the most shamefully, pathetic "reasons". Margaret Thatcher was the foul tasting medicine that saved the country from economic suicide. The pole tax was a doomed attempt to persuade the electorate to take more personal responsibility. There was already a tiered income tax system that had the bigger earners paying the most tax. The simplistic view that most people have of that whole period, especially people who weren't even born then, exasperates me. There were many complex issues at play. One of these was that Labour held constituencies were deliberately overspending their budgets as a means of political retaliation through self sabotage. The idea of a pole tax was partly in response to that. I could go on forever. Margaret Thatcher was very strong, hard working, highly intelligent and decent human being. Her time in power was too long. She became corrupted and had to be removed from power, which is a shame. But she does not deserve the hatred that many, many people have for her. Even people in other countries. Her reputation world wide is one of a monster. Not true George. I was there!

She killed off industries that were arguably dying a death; industries that were propped up by huge, unsustainable subsidies, that couldn't compete against increasing foreign competition. Those whose livelihoods were intertwined with such industries have fair reason to despise her, but to suggest she "destroyed Britain" is only half true. The other half prospered under her leadership and this continued, perhaps even more so, under Blair's New Labour. Rather than incentivise "northerners" to head south to reap the rewards, the large majority of new jobs created were filled by immigrants. This cycle has continued ever since and is arguably the #1 reason why people voted for Brexit. As a nation that will need to compete with the EU, once out, I am somewhat cynical how things will improve wholesale "up north". But I remain hopeful.

Why shouldn't the Dustman pay the same amount for local services as the Duke? The old system was home owners paid Rates subsidising the council tenants who did not contribute to local services. The council tax was 18 and over paid it. Who pays now?

(a) the coal was too expensive (and too deep) to mine economically and that's before you consider the dash-for-gas which was happening right across the western world.I could also add the previous labour administrations who closed down loads of coal mines but they were labour so that doesn't count I guess (b) the automotive industry was a joke - unions & poor management in the late 1960's onwards help create some of the most useless cars in the world - luckily that all changed under foreign ownership in the 1980's (c) the ship building industry was outdated, poorly run, over unionized and complete swallowed whole by the south Koreans - quite how Thatcher was responsible for that is anyone's guess (d) the poll tax did not get rid of Thatcher it was Tory divisions over Europe, MPs worried about their seats and an economy heading for recession - if the poll tax was an issue why did (e) Thatcher also cried when her son Mark was lost in the Sahara desert in Paris-dakar rally in the early 1980's (f) Markel is half cast not black as her father is white (g) Galloway at the royal wedding? How times have changed (h) Gordon Brown doesn't do interviews for a book - that's because he knows his time as an MP was a complete embarrassment ! Other than that George is pretty much spot on ! LOL x

I'm Irish, but I would know a lot about England back in the 80's. She did dismantle Britain, it could have been saved, by sitting down with the unions, instead, with her to ' hell with working class people' attitude and her hatred for all things Liverpool ( Working Class city) you get my drift! She is solely responsible for her dirty deals with her Ronald Reaganomic style policies of deregulation of Englands industries, then heading out foreign. The was when the real rot set in, not the 60's nor the 70's. We were still getting superb cars from England in the late 70's, early 80s and top quality Sheffield Steel cutlery. Don't get me started on her treatment of the North of Ireland. She was pro apartheid as well. Nothing good about her.
@revol148 Жыл бұрын
@@michealkelliher8428 I would agree with pretty much all of what you've typed - I'm no cheerleader for her but blaming all the shortcomings of the 1980's as people like Galloway does isn't helpful or even accurate. As far as northern Ireland is concerned I would have let the United nations sort out the pointless sectarian blood letting or even better have left back in 1921

People who hate others are always on the losing end of history, wars, and in every face to face meeting one may have with these sociopaths. Hatred is a sin or a sickness within mankind. A man who is consumed by hatred or anger clouds his reason and can not be trusted. Their judgement of many things become skewed. Murder comes from both hatred and anger. Jesus said a man who has hatred in his heart for his brother has murdered his brother in his heart. Just like he said a man who lusts after a woman has committed fornication with that woman in his heart. He points out that thoughts create sin in men. Sometimes acted upon but always within the soul they leave a mark. No matter what Julius Caesar did he did not deserve to be murdered. Thou shalt not kill always remains and cannot be erased away. It was hatred that put the knives in the hands of the Assassins of Julius Caesar. And look what happened to everyone of them. People who hate and cheer the deaths of others are lost and on the road to hell.
