And he is not selling them. And from AI technologist perspective he is bona fide. I have downloaded and used the code and he says exactly what it can do, no hype.

When you get in your car you put your life in the hands of other people on the road and yourself and sometimes weather conditions and random events. You never know one day these systems will anticipate random events and save you. A computer can make a decision much faster than you can.

Like he said in the video, he was defending Tesla's Autopilot to the point that he felt he sounded like a Tesla spokesperson haha. So he does have mannerisms, but just doesn't fear calling out BSers when they are making up BS in his perspective. I'd say that makes me respect him even more.

It's just tactical. You don't want people to lose faith to the most reputable ambassador of the technology field you are breaking into. I've been obsessively watching stuff about this guy recently and he's a complete genius but I gotta agree with the interviewer I would not trust the general public with this technology. Giving cars autonomy would not reduce lack of focus on the roads it would compound it.
