It's unbelievable that we managed to get these two in the same room without Degale calling him "ugly kid" or Groves saying his ego is too big. I've never been this nervous watching a podcast. This truly was the best rivalry I'd ever witnessed. Both were outstanding fighters too.

Degale did exactly what tony bellew said he was gonna do when he retired but he actually did it and that was step away from the boxing world for the most part and has just been enjoying his life with his friends and family.

But his trainer Jim McDonnel basically MADE him. At peak fitness Degale was a handful for anyone. Ask Badou Jack. Degal got dropped in that fight and lost teeth. But to me never looked like losing in the moment ...

Id always watched boxing casually with my dad like the big big fights when I was younger but when these guys had there rivalry I was about 15-16 before there first fight and I just remember the build up for it on Ringside and it really got me invested to the point I just started watching as much boxing as I could and nearly 15 years later im still a massive fan of the sport. British boxing misses domestic rivalries like the one they had because they made a British/Commonwealth title fight must watch

DeGale was the best super middleweight in his prime. Just watch his fights against Andre Dirrell and Lucian Bute. Very skilled boxer and elusive 🥊

I remember watching these 2 box each other. Great fight. I thought degale scraped it at the time. Watched it a few times since and scored it to Groves as well. Degale had skills to burn. Classy as hell. Groves was no slouch either with a superb jab, and a hammer of a right hand.

Its so weird because I was literally thinking last night, wonder what James Degales up to nowadays and if he’s done any podcasts Weirder still I was thinking about the question who had a better career of Groves Degale, my outcome was I think Groves had the higher profile career and Degale had the better career in terms of World Level. There was genuine needle back then which made a non-world title/final eliminator domestic dust-up really worth tuning in for which doesn’t always happen and it made me follow both your careers from that point onwards (Groves as a fan and DeGale as I was hoping to see him fail!). Great to see these two getting on now , that’s what boxing’s all about, I was there when degale was ranked number 2 in gb and he boxed Barr who was number 1 he was master class , I lost a close one to Chisora that night, I think Degale had the better career but Groves had the better rivalries.

I like Chunky and like Groves even more, brilliant personality and pundit, I actually think when it comes to talking and listening Boxing that Groves is at the top, very articulate and knowledgeable.
