Lethal Weapon II featured this in its entirety as the ending credits rolled. 1989 I rewound the VHS tape till the tape near popped listening to this song!! The slide and electric guitar is awesome!!

When George made it up to Heaven, I bet the big guy upstairs said to him "hey George, show me how to play that slide guitar like you do.....its a miracle how you do it"

I think when you can play like that, you ARE in HEAVEN or NIRVANA or whatever you want to call the state of bliss! And we get to go along just by listening/experiencing!

Great video! Nice to see some "new" pictures of George - ones that haven't already been shown a million times. And especially nice to see so many pics of him smiling! It is amazing how much good will that man has generated over the years. People love him...love him still. Yeah, yeah, Paul and John were great and all, but George...George commands such a deep respect...people feel such a profound attraction to him (and not in a sexual way). And probably always will. Apart from his talent as a singer/songwriter, you can just feel his humble warmth and humanity. I love this song, "Cheer Down" because of its quirky lyrics, yeah, but also that killer guitar solo. George had certainly learned how to produce a record over the years! "Cheer Down" should have been a bigger hit. It's awesome!

CHEER DOWN - A great song by GEORGE HARRISON from the LETHAL WEAPON 2 film soundtrack in 1989, co-written by TOM PETTY.

"Cheer down" I can see by your grin That you're trembling within It's all over town, cheer down And the smile on your face Is sometimes out of place Don't mind, no frowns, cheer down. If your hair should fall If your shares should crash You'll get by even without getting a rash There's no tears to be shed I'm gonna love you instead I want you around, cheer down. When your teeth drop out You'll get by even without taking a bite If your dog should be dead I'm gonna love you instead The world loves a clown, cheer down. I want you around, cheer down

George’s sister Louise said she believed this song was written with her in mind because “cheer down” was something George used to say to her.

Happy 80th, George! For those who forget his sense of humor, just pay attention to these lyrics 😉 I love this song💓First we get a fun catchy 2:40 pop song then a wonderful slide fest of solos on the outro!
