It was released as a double A-side with “Isn’t It a Pity”. “My Sweet Lord” topped the US Hot 100 for the first of four weeks on December 26, 1970. They are both really great songs. I hope you get to listen to isn’t it a pity 😎

An essential though often overlooked member of the greatest band in the history of music, a remarkable solo career, and a great run with a super band the traveling wilburies. Just an unassuming kid from a working class blue collar town in England. Pretty sweet.

I've read (and this is certainly open to question or correction) that Billy Preston had a direct influence on this song with the "Christian half" of the song-that's Billy's gospel musical and spiritual influence coming through. I've watched an interview of Billy later in life where he says George was so easy to work with for him, because George was so spiritual, and it meshed beautifully with Billy's own spiritual upbringing. These two were on the same vibrational wavelength.

Here's what I was able to find on line for who performed on this track, in addition to Ringo and Eric Clapton. "Recording took place at Olympic Studios in London in January 1970 with (Billy) Preston as principal musician, supported by the guitarist, bass player, and and drummer from the Temptations' backing band. The Edwin Hawkins Singers happened to be on tour in the UK as well, so Harrison invited them to participate." Big band! A lot of musicians on this track!

Harrison's inspiration for the melody did come from the Edwin Hawkins Singers' version of "Oh Happy Day'', but the song's entire chorus is George himself on multiple overdubbing.

This album is a gem ......he wrote the majority of the song at the time he was whit the Beatles but , sadly , lennon or mc cartney didnt have a lot of interrest with harrison work . I recommanded to listen and react to " itn's a pity " " all thing muss pass" or " wah-wah" i m sure you like it . sorry for my bad english , i try to write at my best . have a nice day

On February 19, 1981, George Harrison was ordered to pay $587,000 for subconsciously plagiarising The Chiffons' 1963 hit single 'He's So Fine' during the creation of his own song 'My Sweet Lord'. “I wasn't consciously aware of the similarity to 'He's So Fine',” Harrison reflected in the biography I Me Mine.
