Not only did Jerry Lee Lewis have the music in his fingers when he played the piano but he felt the music in his entire body! What a musician was he! Such a man like Jerry will never be again! I could sit and listen to him for hours on end!

I was in the house band at a small club in Chattanooga Tennessee . I was in the 9th grade and played piano and sang . Jerry Lee came in with his band and did a weekend . I helped show him where to put his piano and where the plugins and all were . He was a gentleman and a huge inspiration to me. I'm 73 now and I still play mostly because of people like him . He was a tremendous talent and brought the house down. Thanks so much for all that wonderful music. Oh yeah lol

Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins . . . they all started out at the Sun Recording Studio there in Memphis, Tennessee, under producer Sam Phillips. Within a year of starting out, they sang together as The Million Dollar Quartet. Today, each of them is passed away and there is no animosity between any of them anymore. They are not competing against each other. Now, they are performing together for the Lord.

Anybody that plays Rock´n Roll or any kind or rocking music today should respect that guy. Not only for giving us the music (which was and still is a huuuge thing!), but also for fighting so hard to bring this music into the world. These guys had people telling them, that they will burn in hell, that they are dirt, that they are a danger for the "morality in the world" and much more. There was a time when everybody was trampling on Jerry and still he is there and has a great heart and is a fine and wonderful guy. If it would not be about the music, there would still be more than enough reasons to respect and love that man. Thank you for everything, Jerry!

Had the privelege of meeting Jerry Lee in '74 at the Vapors Lounge in Memphis! Several of us "suit and tie guys" were sent to Lewisville, Miss for some factory training and overnited in Memphis on the way back home. As a 21 yr old "green assed sales legend" in the works, traveling with other corporate hotshots....and my Dad...a ferocious mentor trainer....me and him sat at one particular bar in the Vapors. Barkeep come up and says son....I'll bet you $10 Jerry Lee Lewis is gonna sit right there in that stool next to you at 8:00!! I was smart enuff not to loose $10 and thinking the Barkeep was full of shit! At 8:00 the Legend sure as hell walked in....sat on the stool next to me and introduced himself to me and my Dad and drank a beer with us. Had a genuine great conversation with the man. We were totally blown away by the experience. After about 15-20 minutes conversation the Legend hops up on stage and let loose for 10-20 minutes more hammering the piano like there was no tomorrow! Jerry Got up....and headed out into the night in Memphis, Tennessee......A lifetime memory for this Ozarks Mtn boy.....!

I used to see GK at the Kroger at Trinity Commons in Cordova. I must’ve run into him at least three times in the store, just pushing his grocery cart along. He was always gracious. It always felt strange to me. I don’t know why, George never was a rich man I guess, but I mean this is a guy who had an open door at Graceland or Elvis’s suite at the International. He was a radio icon in Memphis. Last time I saw him was at the same Kroger, but this time we were both filling up our cars out at the gas pumps. We for some reason talked about Steve Cropper for a couple of minutes, I think Steve was in the news for something about that time. Anyway, that was the last time I saw George. I was saddened to later hear of his passing. RIP GK. As for Jerry Lee, I missed my opportunity. He’d had a stroke a couple of years before he died, and was in rehab in the same facility as my mom. I’d see his wife Judith’s black Mercedes with license plate Killer7 out front some days, and I wanted to bring my mint Sun records 45 up to have him autograph it. I procrastinated until he was released and lost my opportunity.

Alan Freed was a DJ in Cleveland, Ohio. He organized the rock n roll show /tour they mention. Freed is the one who gave the name Rock-n-roll tor the type of music they were playing (the phrase Rock-n-roll had been around and was a phrase that originally was used to describe a certain sexual activity so to speak). The very first "rock concert" was in Cleveland on this Rock-n-roll organized tour by Freed. That's where the whole Cleveland connection, Hall of Fame, etc., comes into play for "Rock-n-roll" As a secondary note, Freed had his own Rock-n-roll band. They were called the Sultans of Swing, which is what Dire Straight's song "Sultans of Swing" is referring to and is about.

Well I finally remembered what the back beat thing was.... this used to have a whole lot more drumming in it, they all did and it was me.... That's what I used to do in the day and why I could hear THEM, I was their drummer, I was even on Waylon records.... I knew their had to be some reason I never "heard" all this in real life before...... I was their drummer so by the time I was old, I was so hard of hearing.... lol

That clip from the Steve Allen show is probably the very first display of hardcore punk rock & roll.

General Patzer: Complete with flying piano stools. As soon as Jerry Lee kicked his chair offstage behind him, Steve Allen IMMEDIATELY threw that chair right back at Lewis. Funny.

****** Don't Forget LIVE at the Hamburg star club , 1964 --- regarded by MANY as the Greatest LIVE album ever recorded !! --- many say that it was far better than G.L. S.O.E. ---- Although this was the first Live album that we Purchased as Hamburg Star club hadn't been released as yet. * Even though it was recorded First. ---

Jerry Lee snuck into black clubs, including one where BB King was playing in his teens, as a pro entertainer, while JLL and friends were about 8 or 9.
