I found George Lewis’s original trio version of Burgundy Street Blues perhaps the most exquisite and moving jazz masterpiece I have ever heard. I am very sorry not being able to find among the many versions recorded by Lewis, now commercially available, precisely this that I love most. My heartfelt thanks to those who have recorded, filmed and made available here.

Absolutely beautiful! Ever read Tom Sancton's, "Song for My Fathers?" It's all about Preservation Hall and all those great jazz pioneers.

I am reading it right now and I got to the point where Tom heard George Lewis and his clarinet for the very first time. And now a whole new world is opening up to me....

The "with Monette Moore" is my favourite recording of Burgundy Street. Would love to see it on youtube, too. This recording is so good, too. Love the images used. Thanks for posting it. One little tiny beef - the youtube video ends before the final two notes are played. I'd rather have a bit of silence at the end of the video than have the last bit of the music missing.
