George is my guitar hero growing up as a teenager in the 80s. Absolutely loved him and still love listening to his playing. I served him coffee in a little town on the edge of Phoenix called Cave Creek. I about shit my pants when I saw him walk in. He was humble and kind and he sat down and talk to me for like half an hour about his recording rig because we had the same type of recording rig. Anyhow he was very nice to me I couldn’t of been any happier that day. I got to buy him a cuppa coffee and then make it for him.

nice! I've met him twice signed my bfta disc & esp browsure...he said the Ferrari in the hunter video wasn't his but rented.... Now that I'm older, I'm preferring Jake E. Lee and other players over him, But I still know he's really talented....

I thought the playing was fantastic and I love that album to this day....I know every note and sound that came out of Brad’s guitar as I must have listed to it several hundred times. For me, those were the original versions of those songs and all others had to compare with Brad. Cheers.

I purchased one of George’s custom guitars off his website. I got off the phone with him the other night. Very gracious and professional man, I’m quite excited. As a 12-13 year old I never thought I could ever afford expensive dream guitars let alone one made by one of my guitar heroes. More importantly I can tell that he really is a man of conviction who has a passion for what he does. Lately I’ve taken a deeper look at his music and his work with Shadow Train/Shadow Nation. Mr. Scary is really an awesome person. I’m very humbled and gracious to have him make me a guitar and I will be playing it all the time. Rock on George! I also had no idea Richie Faulkner was his son in law, Richie is one of my all time favorite guitar players. Very cool stuff, fantastic interview.

George is an amazing guitarist! Loved to hear him speak highly of Eddie Van Halen and even liked to hear his respect for David Lee Roth. @@lorettasearcy2023 Eddie was a physical monster on the guitar with a fire the world never heard before. Randy was a great player with some wicked use of scales but I appreciated his classical composing skills and overall vibe/tone more so then just having mad skills. @thedesertdweller
@thedesertdweller 3 жыл бұрын
Yes yes yes, Dave Meniketti is in some ways the one of the principle figures of musical influence and inspiration for the "hair band" generation of musicians on the entire West Coast.... near God like status for those who know. An amazing vocalist & guitarist with the best, most consistent, body of work in the 1980s, still fresh and listenable today whereas a lot of the 80s stuff hasn't aged well... be honest. Unfortunately however, even though their music was phenomenal straight ahead hard riff oriented melodic insanely great rock n roll, Y&T never cultivated that near religious mytical "image", cultural freak agent of change or sex symbol which almost all the "major" rock stars that become household names do in terms of marketing. This goes all the way back to Elvis, The Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, KISS, Motley, U2, Bon Jovi, Poison, Lady Gaga, etc. Maybe the problem was that Y&T was just too damm good as a live band they didn't feel the need to have a gimmick, wear mackup & costumes lol With that said, as a live band in a smoky club, the vibe in the air, the energy off the stage at a Y&T show, even to this day, is the closest thing to hard rock heaven most people will ever experience:) When they hit the road again, GO!

Great job, Jason, on the interview! I met George at a guitar demo in Atlanta, maybe early 2000's. He played a few songs, spoke to the small crowd at this guitar shop, then came down to speak to us. He was genuine, kind and signed autographs and spoke to everyone there that wanted to speak to him. He was friendly, super nice, and his humor shined through in the brief few sentences we exchanged, as I said I learned much of my guitar playing from his albums and wanted to be just like him, to which he laughed and said I should have higher standards haha! Such a genuine and down to earth guy! Very few human beings have that much talent with that much heart. Thanks for all the musical light you have brought into this world, George!

Hi Jason, very cool interview with George lynch. This is one of the best one’s I’ve seen on your channel. I’d definitely tune in to part two, road stories, stage fails, drunken head butts, rock n roll stories that’s entertainment man keep up the good work. Also the artists laying down life experience like 9-5 jobs and struggling to make it is energizing while I’m struggling myself. Mr lynch is very inspirational and just bad ass. Thanks Jason, thank you Mr Lynch for a great podcast.

Some guy named Lynch brain damaged me back in the '80s and I've been addicted to a midrange notch like the grand canyon and trying to play 3 times faster than I can think ever since..Dokken records are still some of my favorite fun time jams in the practice room today, and I'm same age as George..Lynch, you FK! You warped my twisted mind!

As a long time fan and guitarist inspired by George I was excited to know I would meet him in London. I knew that I couldn’t impress him by talking about myself or my guitar playing so I took a month out to learn a card trick in advance. It went well, we chatted for a while I helped him get guitars backstage… although I will never know if he was impressed by the trick or not 😂 he is indeed quiet and very dry humoured 😳

I can relate to the theory thing. I believe it puts a box around the guitar. May have been why we had so many great players that sounded different through the 70s and 80s maybe some 90s.

George has always been my favorite guitar player. What I like the best is his rhythm playing. He says he doesn't think he is but his song writing and sense of what makes a great song. I think is the best. But yes I'd love to hear people interview him and just talk about what he is doing that day. Not what happened 40 years ago. I've heard all that already.

I knew a band who used to hire 50- 100 young models (mostly female. Some male) to attend their shows and stand at the front of stage (in the audience, not on stage) and go crazy, like they were the fkng Beatles or something. I only caught on after chatting up one of the girls and she told me she didn’t much care for the band but they paid her well and took care of her bar tab.

George has a typcial midwest Sardonic very dry sarcastic sense of humor. He would have fit right in with me and my friends growing up in Chicago on the south side. I never understand how people don't know when he's taking the piss out of them.

Wow - George is a really great guy - great interview Jason. Love how George has such a killer work ethic - 9 new albums coming out this year alone - incredible. He does have a killer sense of humor as well, Can't wait to hear his instrumental album. It's also great to see how involved George still is in his music - great player and great guy.... Damn, I was on the ARMY in the early 1980's and was stationed at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas. Every weekend we would go to the Riverwalk to hang out and that would have been so cool to have seen George Lynch tearing it up in a Mariachi trio - so cool!!!!

*** FYI- A small correction: at 41:40 where you and George discuss his original first Tiger guitar “BOOGER” (named by Sharon Osborne because she hated that it was green), that guitar isn’t in the Hard Rock Cafe, that one is in my personal collection along with some of George’s other personal guitars. I’ve shared it with Lynch fans before on an old episode of “TALKING GUITARS & 80s METAL LIVE!” on KZbin, as well as on the Facebook Lynch fan pages and some of the Charvel guitar Facebook pages…but just to keep records straight, I’m sure George just forgot where it ended up as he’s owned so many guitars… Great interview and good luck to George with what I’m sure will be a GREAT new album (I always prefer to buy the physical CD myself…).

@@jonmankuta8741 well congrats man! That's a helluva collection. How long have you been collecting? If you know of anyone that may be interested, I am parting with my beloved original 1987 Loch Ness Green Ibanez Jem. I hate to do it, but I'm purchasing property, and I think the capital would be better used in this way. I thought you may know some fellow collectors out there. Cheers!
