George at this concert was 34 years old. Already such a big superstar, I'm really surprised that Know one ever asked for " Starpeople ". It's is really one of my favorite songs. It's really got that something that makes you want to move, I have to. As you once said, when you hear one of his songs, it's your favorite, until the next one, & that' my favorite song. Your oh so rite. No words can really describe him, except maybe unforgettable! Maybe you might want to hear George sing this one, see if you have the same reaction. Thanks!

Yes, this was the first time he acknowledged his mum. However, this was the last performance she saw him in. She died not too long afterward. His heart truly broke for a second time. First Anselmo. So much sorrow and so much pain. One of the great parts about George was, he never hid his life's ups and downs from us, he just showed he was human, through his music. We could all relate to him at one time or another. What a special man, in so many ways!

@@MsLuvmusic81 This is all true. He also won Favorite Soul Singer at the AMA, Album and song. Many Black artists were very upset about it, him being white. He was up against Michael Jackson and Bobby Brown. It really upset him. I think that is when he went back to London. He couldn't understand why it had to be Black versus White. Stevie Wonder backed him. Stevie came out with "you mean George is white???" When he finally met Anselmo, he was happy. With Anselmo's death it ripped George apart and then his mother died 2-3 later and he didn't record for about 5-6 yrs. He was never really appreciated in America. I for one appreciate his music. Not only did he write, sing, produce all these songs, he was a very caring person, giving so much $$$ away. I read his book. He was a tortured soul. I have to say one of my favs is "A different corner".

George Michael's music is soul music. He also did an amazing duet with Stevie Wonder at the Apollo's 50th Anniversary, singing Love is in Need of Love. You can see the audiences' shocked and positive reaction as they listened to a young white kid (1985 performance) from the UK take the paint off the walls with Stevie. Other favs that George wrote, produced, and sang: Star People, Praying for Time, Hard Day, Freedom '90, (Flawless) Go to the City.

George was absolutely R&B. George always talked about being in love with and influenced by Stevie Wonder Aretha Franklin the works. That's so much reflected in the music that he wrote arranged and produced. But first and foremost George was so multi-talented because he could write an incredible foot stomping pop song A heart-wrenching R&B ballad and a wicked dance number. He even wrote some super cool Jazzy Tunes like spinning the wheel Cowboys and Angels Etc. The man was beyond talented. He was the first white male to win R&B album of the year. He was criticized for that and it hurt him profoundly. He said all he was trying to do was make great music I think that people crossing over into each other's genres was never a bad thing. He felt that music could unite everybody and he was grateful for the following he had. I think he's the most talented singer-songwriter of all time!

Never seen this but what can say but he was a musical genius. He was an all around great man. I remember when he passed away, there was a special about him telling about all the money he gave to help people. One that I will never forget was of a couple who had tried everything to get pregnant. But, the only thing that they hadn’t tried cost a lot of money. He anonymously paid the fees and somehow the couple found out when he passed away that he was the person who paid all cost for them to get pregnant. She looked like she was at least 6-7 months pregnant and she said that regardless of the sex of the baby, it would bare his name, George or Georgia.

He was also had s great admiration for nurses. After watching nurses take care of his mother before she passed away from a bout with cancer. He would have a private concert every year and invite as many nurses as he could fit in the venue. All expenses paid for the whole night. But, he didn’t stop there. He gave money to organizations that helped nurses that out of work, etc... He also paid tuition for nursing students. He did everything anonymously. Nothing came out that he was giving to people in need. These are only a few examples. It seems like the special I saw was like a life & time of George Michael.

His style is definitely R&B. But back when he was popular in the 80's and 90's, his music was categorized as pop. I remember hearing in an interview once that he considered one of his greatest influences to be Smokey Robinson. He definitely has that R&B feel in his style. His entire debut album, Faith, was amazing. It was released just as I was going into high school, and it was one of those great albums you could listen to from beginning to end. I remember at the time, that my friends and I thought the song I Want your Sex was the most scandalous thing. But it was on the radio all the time.

The picture you noted was back in the hey day of Wham! when they released Make It Big. The original version is powerful with the horn arrangement

Yes I agree. If he thinks this is George doing R'n'B he needs to get a load of the bass line on the original version. Nasty nasty bass!!!!!!

Please oh please listen again and actually listen to the words. He was considered a bit cheesy but he was a beautiful writer and a beautiful human. R.I.P George x

LOVE Gorgeous George! RIP! Yes....his look here is because he was older. Young George was curly blonde hair, no beard. His looks changed over the years. He did a duet with Mary J Blige, “AS”, by Stevie Wonder. AMAZING!!!

As far as his look goes - If you listen to the lyrics of his song "Freedom 90" he says he 'got a brand new face for the boys on MTV'. That's a nod to him changing his look after his hits from his album "Faith". He was extremely versatile in his look and his style. Had never heard this version before, but he always slays no matter what he sings. Truly gifted performer, greatly missed!!

I'm from the UK and was about 18 when Wham came on the scene, to be honest my sister and I found them too cheesy and pop for our then indie music tastes. When George went solo I bought his first album as it was genius. In later years I have revisited some of the Wham hits and really listened to the lyrics and the man was stupidly talented as well as being generous of soul and a beautiful human being. When a teenager can write a lyric like "Guilty feet have got no rhythm" you know he is someone very special.
