George was and is the most underrated singers of all time. Always pitch perfect, versatile and damn brilliant! He wrote his own songs, production and final say on what got released. He was an absolute genius and diamond of the industry.

I love your reaction. I noticed so many more people are starting to listen to George Michael. This is from his WHAM days. George wrote it in about 84. I'm 71 and listen to him everyday. I was Motown and doo-wop. My son introduced me to Marley and Tupac. My daughter introduced me to WHAM, she played their songs 24/7, drove me nuts. But then I started listening to George sing and really liked him. His tracks were so down to earth, his voice and the charisma he had. To this day, there are many great singers out there, but they are always looking for that great song, that great producer, that great sound, that great instrumentation. Not George Michael, he did it all, wrote, sang, produced, did most of the instruments on his tracks and did it HIS way. His duets are tremendous too, Stevie, Aretha, Beyonce, Whitney, Queen, Elton, Smokey, Garth, Pavarotti, Tony Bennett, etc. etc. etc. I think my two fav duets will always be "As" with Mary J. Blige and "Blame it on the sun" with Ray Charles. You are right, his background singers and band were great. Some of them stayed with him since the WHAM days. I'll never see another George Michael in my lifetime. Hope everyone keeps his memory alive because as far as I'm concerned he was and still is one of the greats.

I call his voice pure gold. Liquid gold. I think he's very underrated for his writing. He wrote some of the most mind numbing songs. His heart, he gave it to the music. There is such a vast library. Not as big as others because of his early death and the demons he lost quite a few years to. I love White Light. Sadly prophetic yet shows he was coming back from the brink only to have his ravaged body give out. I still mourn this man.

Before this show aired in 96 he had a rehearsal in the Maidavale studios in London. On BBC Radio there was a competition to win tickets to this rehearsal. There were only 25 winners x2 tickets each... I was a very lucky winner and I can tell you George was so nervous as he'd had a bit of a break, but his performance was absolutely stunning. We were sat just feet away from him and I will never forget his amazing performance. He sang everything then that was in the final show. He is sorely missed. I love your appreciation of such a fine artiste.

I started listening to it and instantly felt in love with that incredible voice. Until today every time I listen to one more try I get goosebumps. Amazing artist. You should listen to that song and feel the goosebumps too (but it belongs to the 80s)

I’m so happy that you appreciate the phenomenal talent That is George was. Yes he was worldwide known, and yes his face his image was on MTV in the 80s and 90s on constant rotation. But you are right, that although people know of him in the states most of them don’t know the records he broke with his music and the fact that he wrote and produced all of his songs and played most of the instruments on his songs. I went to a few of his concerts and was absolutely mesmerized. I love this artist. This performance is from the MTV-unplugged. The entire unplugged is amazing. From this same special please check out the other songs. This is a fun one but it doesn’t showcase his voice like some of the others he did on this special.

Hi Pat, It's so good to see you again. George gets to you. My dear, you have 30+ years to continue to experience this man. George never, never disappoints. After his passing, Stevie Wonder summed him up just right. He said George Michael was a Gift to the world! Isn't t that the truth? There's so much to tell you about George, It's ridiculous. As you said, George is remarkable. You have learned about him sooner. And yes, keep learning all you can of who George was, & actually still is. Not just through his music but through interviews, recording sessions, concerts, anything you can. You won't believe what you learn! He was & is an angel. Very human, made some mistakes along the way & admitted It & learned from It. He also gladly paid the consequences. He was so selfless, honest, professional, humble & kind. Just to tell you a few, & It doesn't stop there. There are many reasons George was so loved. Anyhow you asked for requests. Here goes-STAR PEOPLE, SPINNING THE WHEEL, OUTSIDE, MY BABY JUST CARES FOR ME, this was his Symphonica tour in Paris at the Garner' Opera house, Dripping in Gold. Well, that's just a few. I don't know If you know this, but George wrote, sang, arranged, & directed all his own music. His style was Pop, R&B, Jazz, & even some Swing. Like I said, He does It all, Literally! Till next time Pat, Take care, stay safe, & we'll see you on the flip side, Remember George, & Keep the Music Playing!

You need see the original music video from his days with WHAM of this song. Total different sound and just shows how amazing George is as an arranger to turn it into something completely but still sounds so great. Anything he does live is amazing. His performance on the Parkinson show of A Different Corner is absolutely amazing. Just found an old video of him at a Nelson Mandala's birthday concert in 1998 singing Marvin Gaye's Sexual Healing. He is so young in this one but the vocals are on point for sure. Again the arrangement of the song is perfection.

You are honoring such an amazing artist. We appreciate your reaction and spot-on commentary. I followed you through a George Michael search and subscribed, I wish your channel massive success. You sir, are talented as well! His beloved mother Leslie was also in the audience here and George remarked that it was the only time he ever waved and said "Hi Mom!" with a very boyish smile, (after "You Have Been Loved", I believe). It was her last attendance with him as she died shortly afterwards in 1997.

Great reaction. This song was a Wham! Track from their goodbye album. George Michael is amazing. I think it adds to the enjoyment of his music if you understand where things go chronologically because he was a constantly evolving artist. So, after Wham! Was a huge pop sensation, he released A Different Corner on a 45 single. Then came the Faith album, which was revolutionary and put him into pop stratosphere. After Faith, he just didn’t want to do it anymore, and said he wasn’t going to. After a couple years, he released Listen Withou Predjudice which was huge risk. Freedom was his renegotiated terms to his fans. It was absolutely shocking at the time because he had the dream pop career so saying he was not a heartthrob pop star and was only going to make music that moved him and only do what made him happy was kinda like throwing his career away. Critics were shook because they said it was a big mistake, but we all just loved him more. Then, he got arrested and threatened with blackmail over cruising guys at rest area. Shocking at the time, but he just went on interview shows and said hey, I’m gay and I sometimes like casual hookup in public restrooms. After that, he came out with Fast Love. Sorry for the essay. Could you react to my favorite song of his : Jesus to a Child or Praying For Time

Hi Pat, I know I commented before but, I have to suggest you now listen to the official recording of this song. George sings this exactly the same. He was always like this even in concert like he is here. He never really promoted any of his new songs for the 1st. time to his audiences. That's one of the problems he had with Sony & ended up in court because of It. (George took them to court for It and other things) He wanted to give them what they wanted to hear! George's words, not mine. He just didn't want to promote his new music. He knew he didn't half to.
