As you know he was arrested for inappropriate sexual acts in public place in April 1998 and for hitting on a male undercover FBI-agent. A few months later he wrote this song, Outside, and made this video, which was released in October 1998, in which he basically says "F... you cops and authorities for your hypocrisy. I'm a human being and have the right to be who I want to be". He surely made his point. The song says it all. He basically didn't give a f... about the incident, and this video and the song even made him more popular. RIP George Michael.

But first, no one is classy 24/7 (even though he said "you see, I think about it all the time, 24/7"... :-) And second, I was talking about the way he dealt with the scandal once it had happened, and made a lemonade out of it with this song. *THAT* was classy!

Goytá F. @jargonellie66307 жыл бұрын
+Greg Hill Sounds to me like you are jealous... Why should George apologise for something he did in his private life? Cottaging goes on all over the world, the greasy cop shouldnt have been soliciting/entrapping other men only to act outraged and then arrest them - arsehole. He was more sleazy, trying to sue in court for defamation of character when dealing with something which was part of his job. If he was such a delicate snowflake maybe a job as a cop isnt for him? Most countries don’t entrap people into crimes because their cops are so desperate to a) see penises and b) affect arrests because they have nothing better to do. Cottaging between 2 grown men at night in a public toilet does nobody any harm at all and I’m a female Mum who believes this. It’s not as if kids are around at night when this practice takes place... Live & let live.

Now if only the rest of the vehement LGBT thought like he did, they wouldn't be as "victimized" as they like to believe. I knew and worked with LGBT who at least, like Michael, were secure with themselves.

Loved that he did this video to show that he has a sense of humor about his "run in with the law!" This shows that he has a sense of humor and that he can laugh at himself...and he admits that he's human!! I will miss the music that he would have made further down the road...RIP George Michael!! Your voice is permanently written on our hearts and in our minds with indelible ink...

My mum is a HUGE George Michael fan and I was more of a grunge rock guy but when he released this song and just poked fun at himself I immediately admitted to my ma that she picked wisely in her choice of favourite musical artist. Also his cameo in Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchants Extras when he came on smoking a spliff with a kebab in hand. There's also the amount of money he would regularly give to charity anonymously which only really came out after he'd left us. He's someone who definitely deserves the Hollywood movie treatment that Freddie got. Love ya George

He’s getting it, his family are creating a movie with producers now. Will be an epic movie. He had a great sense of humour and such a kind heart. What he did anonymously just proves he wanted to help but didn’t do it for the glory that comes with it, he did it because he cared.

I must say very gutsy of George Michael to do a video that basically thumbs its nose at the police and the events that occured in real life with his arrest. A very well done video that is one of my personal favorites and the song itself a Classic dance tune that has an irresistible beat and rythm. George is and has ALWAYS been a tremendous talent with vocals to die for. The freeness of the song and the visual panorama is thoroughly enjoyable and it in my view is saying that we tend to, as a society to focus too much on the wrong things. What we should be focusing on is finding a way where we ALL can live together in spite of our differences in HARMONY. It is up to YAWEH to be the judge of our shortcomings. In the meantime it is our duty to honor him by being helpful and kind to our brothers and sisters regardless of their station in life.

Candace Mills Hi Candace. My understanding is George was arrested for lewd conduct in a public toilet. He was alone. He was arrested on a misdemeanor, booked, payed a fine of 500 dollars and released. He had a court date and the outcome i'm not sure of what was the result. I do believe he was ordered to do perform some community service that benefited those who were victims of Aids.
