We all loved George Michael regardless of if he was gay, straight, bisexual, young, middle age, old, thin, muscular, fat, with perfect vision or with glasses, scars or no scars. It really breaks my heart that he felt bad because he: 1. got older, 2. gain weight, 3. needed glassed for vision, 4. Had scars from recent accidents. I am angry with the LGBTQPA community also for making people feel worthless; if they get older, gain weight, or need glasses or change their sexual orientation. I am sad because we were the same age and his music reminds me of the 80's and takes me back to the days of being a young Marine in Quantico, Virginia. The Wham songs Careless Whispers and Freedom were on the radio all the time! It seemed like I would be young and invincible forever! George probably felt the same way.So his Wham music and solo stuff like Father figure were part of my memories and history because when I hear it I instantly go back to the 80's and reminisce! George Michael had a great voice to me! I can relate with getting older and all that goes with it, especially seeing that old guy in the mirror! I choose to remember George as he was back then, the great 80's!

A bad case of pneumonia I would guess; he was on a ventilator, tracheotomy and something like 11 days in ICU. He wanted to do a concert for the staff he credited with saving his life. What a nice guy, I would have stayed in hospital nursing forever if most patients were that nice.

For anyone who cares to not look at life in black and white, this is someone who had some kind of organ failure - this is not from eating food so we need to see this as a man who was dying - not someone who ate too many donuts. He died 19 days ago and he still hasn't been laid to rest - my heart is breaking. He gave us so much joy with his music and he was terribly self conscious. George Micheal gained weight because he was taking those nasty steroids (Prednisone) to help with the swelling off his lungs since his dreaded illness in 2011. Prednisone cause massive weight gain , along with making one very very depressed. I was put on them a while back, I was only on them for a couple days but boy did they make me so angry and depressed and suicidal. I was crying and angry and an emotional mess and on top it was making me hungry to the point off wanting to eat the plate. Thank God I recognised it was the pills.. i chucked them in the bin and vow no matter what I will never take that shit again.

mysterychemistry I read UK online news that GM was on steroids to help with breathing since 2011 after his severe pneumonia he had lost some off his lung capacity. I had the same problem and only steroids they give are Prednisone. Its a nasty medication.

I always have loved his music (not to mention he's gorgeous) and I have always sang his songs to my child all the time in our everyday life. I sing "wake me up before you go go" to get up for school and "you gotta have faith, faith, faith", ha ha! Shows how popular his music even from back in the eighties still is! The photos I saw showing him with weight gain to me look like he was bloated from retaining a lot of water not actual weight gain so he might have had congestive heart failure. He seemed to be so out of breath in one interview which retaining of water around the heart could cause. It's such a shame, he was still so young. It seems if he and the people around him were more observant about his unusually unhealthy appearance maybe he could have avoided his early demise. Hindsight is always 20/20. RIP George. You will be a greatly missed beautiful and talented man!

The landlord of his local pub knew him for years and has said he saw him around town this year and he said you wouldnt recognise him at all. It wasn't the George Michael everyone remembers. It's tragic to think he was crippled by insecurities and self doubt, his mother's death was the start, but he managed to keep it together on the outside. But he just couldn't keep going. His later life was a long list of shocking incidents. Who falls out of a fucking car on the motorway? He went to jail, was mocked by the press for his constant 'misdemeanours'. I was a heroin addict for a couple of years but I was bad on pain killers for like 20 years and when you been on drugs that long its very hard to be completely sober . I been off heroin for a year now and im sober now but its still a struggle to this day to be clean and it is a battle . but may he rest in peace and may the lord forgive him and give him joy in the heavens

I think what she meant was that it's unusual for a 53-year-old man to just die "peacefully" in his sleep, because his heart has stopped, without there being more to it than what we currently know. It's relatively rare for that to happen without there being some other reason why his heart suddenly stopped. If you're 93 - yeah - fair enough - 53? - rather different; I guess we'll have to wait and see what details emerge. It's a real shocker though. Terrible shame.

A lot of people put on a lot of weight past 50. When one puts on tons of weight their face changes and you can't always recognize them anymore as they were.

Yes can concur with previous post - steroids can increase weight dramatically as I know ! Went from 17-21 stone as was on prednisilone and methotextrate for a rheumatic disorder Not sure what it serves showing pictures of George and all the nasty stuff about drugs etc . I will remember him for his truly god given writing skills and his timeless music However surprised to hear that current boyfriend slept in his car on Christmas Eve - this appears to have just come out ? Guess we will never know true circumstances of George's death ? RIP 🎄

Shame on TMZ for posting pictures of George Michael's weight gain!!!! George took pride in his appearance. He could have gained weight due to health issues or medication. To publicize someone's weight gain is NOT cool!!!!

+Paul Newman Don't believe the photos of George. I saw him one week before those photos were supposedly taken while he was out and he did put on a bit of weight but nothing like the photo shopped ones we are now seeing. I cannot believe how disparagingly gross these photographers and the media who publish pictures of celebrities that have passed. I guess they know they won't get sued now that the celebrity is gone. Makes me sick. George looked no where near what they depicted, I do not even believe this is him at all... In fact if you look at the ears which are a big tell they are not George Michael's ears, mouth is off, hairline completely wrong, hands wrong so many things off. May George rest in peace.

brandon2932 Yes anyone could say that. I however stand to gain nothing. The media is notorious for lying & always has its agenda full of lies to gain the viewers. Believe your own eyes...Those are not George's ears, not his hairline by any means, not his beautiful brows, eyes are wrong, not his hands, not his mouth...in fact everything about that person in the photo is way off. As a medical professional myself one the biggest tells weight or no weight gain is that the ears scream truth. Believe what you like ,after all you are entitled to. One does not morph in week into an entirely different person. Unless horribly photo shopped to gain a more shocking story. It was a very nice to see him and get a wave from him, he has always been one of my favorite artist.

***** As I stated in an earlier comment ...At the time I physically saw him with mine own eyes he was no where near what seems to be the only two photo shopped photo's they have of him looking severely distorted. My sighting and momentary interaction with him was according to the timing of the media only one week before that distorted version of those two photos. He was heavier than as we all remember but again not like that photo. He was a loved person, a loved artist and will remain loved by so many. May the media allow his family to grieve in peace once and for all.

Fluid retention can blow one up severely to the extent seen in the images in the space of a week. If his heart was weak, this may have indeed occurred. When most people think of severe weight gain they think of gorging non-stop on cheeseburgers but this is only one of several possibilities.
