I was saying the WHOLE 1st half. Get Pickens the ball and you will move the ball and get TD's. Get Pickens the ball and the rest of the offence does great. BUT you have to have a OC and HC AND a QB that understands that.

This is an emotional OC that wants to prove people wrong. All off-season, fans complained about the jet sweeps. 2nd play of the first game, Jet Sweep. Predetermined play. Fans complained about the 3rd and short with KP in the shotgun and the play was blown up. 4 and 2 a couple weeks later and they're back in the shotgun. Predetermined situational play. Criticism over the slow starts. Opening play is a long ball for DJ in the rain. Predetermined play despite the conditions (still should've been executed). Last year, fans complained about those shuffle passes to the TE that never worked... 2nd and goal from the 5 and it's another wasted shuffle pass to the TE for no gain. It's weird to watch this guy operate. Fans are saying to feed GP the ball--so I'm guessing he won't even though we've seen it work.

You can’t be a franchise QB and be as inconsistent as KP is. I want to believe in him, but if we have to hope and pray on the defense to keep us in the game for a possible 2 minute drive to hopefully win the game, then we still don’t have a franchise QB. Obviously it’s not all on him but he Misses open throws and is late on reads too.

That’s not all on him tho. This offense sucked with Ben in it too. People blamed Ben but if you look at before and after Canada, before Canada Ben had a 5k season. After Canada he was a lot worse. Kenny needs more time but to me he doesn’t look like he’s developed THAT MUCH since the end of his rookie year, hell he looks like first half of his rookie year a lot too and I think that’s because he doesn’t trust the Oline. But there are still plays that can be made out there and frequently so far this season, he hasn’t looked like he’s progressed.

Pickens only got 3 targets that game. But my honest problem is Kenny focused on Pickens too much during the 1st half. A lot of the snaps he took that game he would often look at Pickens first and wait to see if he’s open and then miss on the open Robinson or Diontae. Which is why later in the 1st half he started feeding the ball to Diontae. But it’s also why I think Pickett was late on the TD throw to Diontae because he keeps looking to Pickens first and waiting for Pickens to be open instead of going to the first open WR. The game should be played where we don’t force Pickens the ball most of the game but use Pickens when he’s open and then balance it by using Diontae as well. I know will Levis balled out in his first start ever against a terrible Falcons defense, but I’m excited to see Pickett play primetime football and see how he gets Pickens and Diontae equally involved like he did against the Rams (since the Titans secondary isn’t that good)

Kenny is a good QB but without good guidance from his QB coach and OC he just will not improve, plus he needs the O-line to do better, much better, at keeping him safe. Its unacceptable to have him taking hits on every single play, and its not entirely the O-lines fault, its on Canada too, they do not have many traps and movements in the plays so they are almost always in the same spots and DCs have been and will continue to predict that. This is also why the run game stinks right now, the linemen are not moving around and opening gaps for Najee and Warren to run through. GP needs more targets but he also cannot be the only target, DJ needs to step up and work on catching those slightly off throws to take some of that pressure away, and there needs to be more TE usage, Pat Freiermuth is a great TE and a very good blocker but you can't have him stuck blocking like this instead of having him open for routs after chipping.

GP IS WR1, NOT DIONTE. Been saying this since last season. Dionte is not WR1. But they keep tossing him 14-16 times, and he keeps coming up short until he doesn't. Meanwhile, they'll give GP 3-4 looks a half, it doesn't make any ramn sense, and does the offense no favors. In this game, I'll cut him some slack, the weather simply sucked. DJ was going to struggle, considering he was never going to get great footing, which help neutralize his chances of breaking free from the Jags secondary. But that didn't stop Canada from targeting him, did it? But GP is clearly the bigger threat. They need to stop mandating DJ gets the ball, and just let Kenny play in his comfort zone. It just seems as if they're telling Kenny to give Johnson the ball more than Pickens, some of the open routes Pickens have had are astounding, so much so, you'd have to deliberately ignore him being so open.

I realize he threw 42 TD’s & was a Heisman candidate in his last yr at Pitt…but when rookie QB’s (I know he’s not a rookie, but just barely since he didn’t play a full season last yr) are asked about the difference between college & the NFL, the overwhelming majority say that it’s the speed. There’s something there w/Pickett, & while we only see it in the 4th quarter (if we’re lucky), I still think he can be THEIR GUY…but there’s some basic fundamentals of NFL play vs. college play that he just hasn’t grasped yet…& I stress YET. He looks like a QB who’s constantly saying “OH SH$T” back there. Not all his fault though. That was a play meant to trick the defense but they didn't conceal it in the least which is why it gained zero yards and wasted a down. The following play was the missed pass for DJ in the end zone. That throw probably needed to be immediately on the cut, since it was late (KP looking at Robinson or looking the the S off), then it was DJ that should've sat on the route--he kept running which is why the ball was behind him. But beyond that, the entire direction is worse than the design by a mile. The notion of hitting a home run off the bat is the Steelers being enamored with the splash play rather than trying to establish the run--and this team needs to run the ball. The QB's best friend is the running game and TE and this team is not emphasizing either.

You can know how the pieces move and basic tactics to get an advantage, but there's no strategy utilizing those pieces to get a long term advantage throughout the game.

All signs pointed to this being a run heavy team based on how they finished off last season and in accordance to the pieces they went after in the draft and FA yet there is no commitment to it. What I'm seeing is the antithesis of the environment any young QB would want to be a part of. No protection from the line--especially up the middle off the C and RT which means there is no consistent pocket... so even when the pocket holds, the lack of confidence in it doesn't allow for the QB to get comfortable. There's no running game to take the load off--lots of 3rd and long possessions. All of that and KP still had a 93 yard drive and followup drive that put them in scoring position. Still not giving KP a full pass, just that I have zero confidence that he'll reach his ceiling (whatever it is) under this staff.

Pickett is currently the 29th ranked QB….behind Justin Fields and fucking Zach Wilson. He’s got so many abysmally embarrassing stats that just really prove he is NOT the guy. I understand we won’t move on from him, he will get at least another year with a new OC….but I’ve said it since college, the combine, and the draft…..he is NOT a franchise QB for the Steelers. Honestly if I had it my way….along with a new OUTSIDE HIRE OC in 2024….I’d spend the 1st round pick on the best QB available, or I would trade up to select Drake Maye.

The steelers are and organization that is slowly but surely become a laughing stock again, the family has fail the commander, use to love to watch the steelers but haven for a while bill chower, too was another coacj who was frustrating to watchi brought us a superbowl but squamdered opportunities, with his pulling the reigns on the team too early in a game with not a big lead, the times he did that was sicking cost games cost us seasons, it was sicking when theres two mins left and the other team is beaten than you take your foot of their necks, tomlin he just gets off being looked like and under dog, to me he hold the team back make moves make no srmse to keep the game close i think he loves 2:48 drama, he loves pulli g us from losing season, i was a stro g supporter of tomlin, but there is something about him thats off, think he creates these issues indirectly and than like to come in a like a knight in shining armer to fix what he keeps broken to look like some genius, but me no matter how hard i look i dont see a football genius, just a guy thats had the most talented teams and has very minimal success, the only successful thing he has done is for him not having a losing seasons, and that to me is intentional like a crazy genius secretly unleashi g his evil plan, if tomlin goes to any other team bet you anythi g he will not come close to anythi g he did here which in my opnion isnt much, squandered more and ruin players. Tomlin is done he will never bring us to a superbowl.
