Not really. He was told they only had time for one more question and he asked about if they're doing animated show. GRRM answered his question. He then tried to answer another question which was about Rhaegar but he was getting greedy and was rightfully cut off. He was one of the lucky people to get to ask GRRM a question. He used it on animated shows which was already confirmed. He should have asked about Rhaegar first as he was told they only have time for one question and he thought he could have two. So he wasted his first question since the animated show is already well known information. Also, I don't think GRRM will give away any spoilers for his books. He is very protective of them. He didn't even like telling D&D spoilers of his books. So what GRRM would say about Rhaegar would be stuff we already know. He isn't going to tell anything that's going to spoil the last two books.

His works and their adaptations have given me enough joy and stimulated my imagination in my adulthood where I can be satisfied (though not thrilled) with what we have now. Of course I want the story to be finished, but if you allow yourself to be satisfied with mediocrity as an artist, that's how you'll be remembered in the end.

Now that was a good question, since Dany is compared to Rhaegar often but he had his own qualities that distinguished him from others, as we all do, such as his affection for books; "bookish to a fault" , "Baelor the Blessed born again"- until he learned he was going to have to become a knight, I wonder how he came to that conclusion, and what kind of books was he reading? I wonder if the library of the Red Keep still has those books shelved, if he forgot some of his things in Summerhall and could they still be there? How could he go so mad with prophecy as to abandon his wife and kids when the dynasty was at their most vulnerable? (Something that is unforgivable, given the consequences of that impulse) and what was he planning to do with Lyanna? If he returned home safe, was he planning on having two wives like Aegon the Conqueror? That's a possibility. Did he tell Lyanna about the prophecy at all? Historically, barring any particular mishaps or misfortunes or misadventures, this is the way aging has tended to work.
@TheInfectous4 ай бұрын
@@billyalarie929 Honestly. This is a lie people tell themselves to cope with the fact that they've been on the decline shortly after mid 20s. Not that this must be the case, it just is for the vast majority of people especially into retirement age. Dude is 76, most people his age aren't capable of speaking at all... because they're dead... because people don't usually live this long. Of those who are left, a quarter are mentally impaired. If one isn't developing their hobbies, if one isn't delving into difficult literature, if one isn't actively challenging themselves with new concepts, one is getting dumber. If someone has lost their curiosity, they're done, they're on the decline, most people are done the second they get out of the education system, the only reason the decline isn't immediate is because they're riding the last few necessary experiences one has before settling into a job. For most people, they get a long term job mid twenties and shortly after, the lack of drive, lack of curiosity, abundance of junk food, lack of exercise and laziness starts to collect it's dues and there they are, ready to become morons. Most old people, are very sweet and are great humans... but they're dumb as dirt. They are weak in most forms of logic, their understandings of the world are worse than when they were in highschool, they aren't able to grasp any new technologies, their understandings of concepts are polluted by decades of generalized stupidity learning from their interactions with the general public/co-workers/friends rather than any sort of true knowledgeable investigation and they have no interface with intellectual pursuits of any field. That doesn't make them bad people, it doesn't make their experiences worthless, it doesn't mean their value is any less nor should we be any less thankful for them participating in and making our society better through their labor. It just means that they're dumb and pretty the only valuable things they will have to say (from a knowledge perspective) will be exclusively in the realm of their personal experience. If you listen to a retired mechanic talk about cars, man, they've probably got some really insightful things to say, if they've been married a long time and lifelong friends they're probably have some great things to say on managing interpersonal relationships... if you talk to them about media, they'll start talking about how badass paul atriedes from dune is and how we just need a leader like him because they have no clue how to interpret a piece of media.

Interesting take on Sanderson's (among others) magic systems and rules. 'Hard magic' would be an oximoron, closer to 'soft science' or 'magical science'. He COULD be considered our Tolkien, IF he ever finishes A Song of Ice and Fire. Every year that goes by it seems less and less likely. I'm just upset though because I love this man and really want him to finish his masterpiece to cement his legacy. This story helped carry me through some dark times.

I think GRRM would actually change one key thing - he would never have abandoned the timeskip he wrote into the narrative after ASOS in ~2000-2002. Abandoning it cost him years of work and momentum and created more narrative problems than it solved.

G.R.R.M.: "If there was one thing I would change about my books, is they would be finished." Me: Well, you're the only one who can make that happen, Mr. George. But I understand the challenge, as a writer currently writing what I pray will be my debut novel, just about three years now. Two and a half simce I started the manuscript. It's easy to write; it's difficult to write well. So, prayerfully it doesn't take me another decade and a half to write this book.
