I think George R. R. Martin is the mixture of J. R. R. Tolkien and Edgar Allan Poe. He's not afraid to go the distance. Nudity and killing; children that is. If you don't know what I'm talking about, go read Fevre Dream. I've read two books of his and I plan to read a whole bunch more. :)

Drivel. The purest sort. Utterly without poetry, although a good storyteller - of tales that one would read or hear only ONCE... Have you ever heard a literate gent say UMMMM..... UHHHHH...... YOU KNOW......so much?? He's' illiterate in some basic way.... The gent came from Hollywood hacking, and it shows. I am surprised that he has a smattering of British history. Try listening to recorded clips of real artists such as Auden, Gore Vidal, Yeats, even Bill Buckley...and the master, Tolkien...
