Lewis stated he asked the team about a 1 stop strategy in the morning meeting and they told him no. If he had done like Russell and did a one stop, he might have been DQ’d too. Lewis does sometimes call his own tire strategies…but going totally rouge without all the information, only hindsight will tell if it’s a good decision or not.

The problem is that George should not be allowed to call his own shots during a race. People get paid to manage weight, tires and pit stops for him. If it was the lack of weight do to tires then it is his own fault and more importantly the team’s fault for letting call is own shots on the track. If you notice both Max and Lewis rely on the team unlike other drivers who try to be on their own program. Drivers need to be extremely successful before teams should have the privilege to make their own calls. It is a team sport after all

George called for a 1 stop as soon as he realized that Lewis had the clear advantage. Lewis still walked him down but couldn't get past him. It makes sense now because his car was lighter. This Silverarrows fault because George thinks he is on par with Lewis. He believes that he is the #1 driver. For all his exploits in the past 3 yrs , Russell has only 2 wins. He does nothing to contribute to the development of the car. He waits for Lewis to figure the bugs and glitches.
