I worked there a long time ago. Best chili and tenderloins bar none. May George RIP and sadly I hear the Chili King was closed.

I worked at George the Chili King 👑 in the mid 90s. It was my first job. Gotta love The Fatman Special, their signature tenderloin sandwich 🥪 🍟🥤

Ate there today. Not impressed... but cool back story.

It has certainly gone downhill in the last decade or so. Last time I went it felt very dirty.
@drfreud655 жыл бұрын
@@hawkeyecub It's not more dirty, it's just an old building, maybe it could use a bit of remodeling. Don't you think you'd look a little rough around the edges if you were born in the 50s? I've got friends who, to this day, when they come up from Texas, still stop in for a tenderloin or advance order a large amount of chili to take back to Texas.

tdsm19 It may be old, but when I was there last it was also defiantly dirty and the lady that made my tenderloin had lots of dirt under her fingernails. Yuck!

@@bobbyhoeppner8848 I worked there in the 70s. It's not dirtier, trust me on this. I didn't know this episode of D, D & D existed until yesterday, but it actually looked cleaner. Think about how work ethics have changed. Could you get a teenager to care as much now as we did then? I'll send you a link. Did you hear King George has to have his bladder removed, due to cancer? It was the lead story on KCCI a few days ago.
