On December 6, 2018, Ghostlight Records and Two River Theater celebrated the vinyl edition of the BE MORE CHILL Original Cast Recording with an exclusive in-store signing and performance at Barnes & Noble. The event included original cast members featured on the 2015 Two River Theater cast recording: Gerard Canonico, Katlyn Carlson, Stephanie Hsu, Lauren Marcus, and George Salazar. Along with Joe Iconis, who wrote the music and lyrics, they performed a full half-hour set!

I think it's amazing how much different he sounds in this! I know, some people will probably think "Different?" or "Amazing?" but this version sounds a bit more frantic at the heated parts, but slows down at the emotion heart to heart parts that truly relate to a teenager without the dry and depressing humor. This fluctuation of faster and slower at specific parts not only relating to the climax of the complexity of the chords but also to the lyrics is great, and the fact that that the chords line up with the lyrics' show how truly amazing this song is. Also, one thing I noticed (not a bad thing necessarily!) about George was that he's probably a bit more numb to this song saying that he's cried during it a million times, because of how many times he sang it. This gives his attempt at crying for theatrics a little bit more of a challenge, which is actually good! He has to push himself to really feel that emotional connection between him and the character Michael Mell, which allows his performance to be a lot more personal and, like this one compared to the studio versions, raw and almost have a desperate feel, which is a bit more preferred in my taste. Not to mention his movements and acting are a lot less immobile compared to the recording and even the recording of the live performance that I saw. aNd WHeN hE sNaPs AlOnG aT tHe MiSlEaDiNg hUmOR iN tHiS sOnG It mAkEs ThE cRuShInG "And my feelings sink" LiNe HuRt A LOOTTTT mOrE tHaN uSuAl. (Oh crap did I just admit to watching a bootleg??? No....maybe....AAAAAA) Yes, his vocals and emotions were outrageous in the recordings, but the way that he portrays Michael is way more prominent here, because he's desperate for that connection to the character, he's desperate for that...that...that connection between him and the piece he's performing...the connection to Jeremy, if we talk about Michael Mell. In the recordings, it sounds less desperate, and more...like he's given up on everything, which is still such an emotional and human feel, which is why the recording still makes me cry every. Single. Time. Nonetheless, I feel like this raw and new George Salazar take on Michael in the Bathroom is going to fit the realistic reaction of the character better than the studio version, so I am hoping that I can get tickets to really admire this amazing human being we all know and love and support on KZbin comments when a witch is disrespectful or a person downsizes the work put into this musical in general, with comments like "the plot is all over the place." Because 1: That's NOT EVEN TRUE and 2: Even if the plot wasn't in Chronological order or was a bit disorganized, that would only add to the anticipation of the end result, of the final scene, of the underdog hero, MICHAEL FRICKEN MELL, and his sidekick, FRICKEN MOUNTAIN DEW RED. So, do I wanna ride?! HELL YEAH, I WANNA RIDE. I WANNA RIDE THIS AMAZING EMOTIONAL JOURNEY OF A TEENAGER WHO'S ANGSTY AS HECC JUST LIKE ME SAVING HIS BEST FRIEND FROM A FRICKEN TIC TAC FROM JAPAN. Okay so I just like, took a second to pause instead of typing a mile a millisecond and realized that I'm really hyped about this. I went from describing the fluctuation of the complexity of chords lining up with the intensity of the lyrics to confessing that I'm in love with this character in this amazing musical. Guess what his name is..... Jake XDDD Not realllyyyyy. I LOVE YOU MICHAEL MELL. YOU DON'T KNOW ME, YOU'RE FICTIONAL, BUT I FUCCKIN LOVE YA. GEORGE. YOU'RE NOT READING THIS. THAT'S OKAY. BUT QUEEN, YOU SLAY. YOU SLAY THIS SONG, YOU DO YOU SISTER. BECAUSE TRUST ME, WE ARE LOVING THIS!!! I love you too, George... >/////////< You're welcome.
