Matthew Jendry I was a teen when he hit it big, and I can't remember him ever recording anything that veered away from his heroes style of country. He never sold out to other styles, just to widen his appeal or his audience. But the wider audience came, anyway. He had a lot of things to admire. Looks, talent, personality. And, for Texans, he was one of our own. He just was too big a Country star to bother with Hollywood and crossing over. In the end, they all came to him. Every other country singer that had a bit of success immediately took the first chance to go Hollywood and give Nashville the finger. Garth Brooks tried becoming an R&B singer, Reba went Hollywood, Clint Black MARRIED into Hollywood, Dwight Yoakam went into Hollywood films, and the trend continues today with Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood. Dolly did Hollywood, but was never sucked in by it. Never moved there, hung out there, or tried to become one of them. So to me it's all about George and Dolly as ambassadors of the genre.

fuckin awesome man, i agree, there IS something wrong with the radio these days. what they're calling country is either hard rock with a steel guitar or hip hop with fiddles. it's gonna be a sad sad day when King George finally gets to meet the big Cowboy in the sky. but on the up side, there are still a few artists out there that keep traditional country music alive like Cody Johnson, Josh Turner and Easton Corbin, so country music may keep changing, but there will always be traditionalists like you and me

I grew up on 80s country .. from Rosanne Cash to Reba, George Strait to Alabama, Ronnie Milsap to Tanya Tucker. None of my family or friends are "into" country so I don't have anyone to share this core passion with. It was my childhood (along with pop and rock but I always went back to country). Not to sound old but .. they just don't make music like this anymore. Damn, how I miss those days.

"Let's Fall to Pieces Together" is the title of a song written by Dickey Lee, Johnny Russell and Tommy Rocco, and recorded by American country singer George Strait. It was released in May 1984 as the third and final single from the album "Right or Wrong". The song was George Strait's fifth #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart.
