It never ceases to amaze me just how fantastic Shatner looks and how sharp and witty he is for his age, it's honestly hard to believe he is 93. He still looks like he's in his 60s. Wilford Brimley looked older in Cocoon than William Shatner does now and he's 3 years older and that movie came out 40 years ago. Mind boggling.

When they got to talking about Latinos voting for Trump, the only thing Bill missed was many Latinos are Catholic. In our family quite a few are active church goers. Church people tend to be conservative. And he is right about job competition. One relative who is Mexican American complained about having to compete with new immigrants. They get such low wages, it drives down the living wage of others in the same industry.
@phillippedelolmo63702 ай бұрын
You are spot on 💯! The other part of this is also in the label, "Latino" .. Many North Americans view "Latinos" as a monolithic ethno racial group. In this particular election cycle, it would appear that the democratic party viewed this group as a singular entity and would all vote in their direction due to "identity politics".... I am in California, and there were some, liberals, that literally were pushing that all Latinos were going to be deported if Trump won.. apparently they did not take into consideration that there are several people that utilize the term, latino, and are Multi generational citizens of the United States.... Also, apparently there was no comprehension that the people they put this label on do not all have the same ancestry. A cuban, a mexican, and a peruvian, are not going to have a whole lot in common with the exception of a similarity of language. In saying this, their politics are all not going to be the same either.... This of course is one of many things that have to be addressed and rectified at some point in order for the democrats to have some kind of viability for the general public of the U.S. My personal experience is when I was much younger and growing up in New York city, I knew several Cuban Americans that were staunch republicans.

@batsnackattack2 ай бұрын
They've done great great wording work to massage away distinctions between what Maher called 'Mexican-Americans' or to say they are American Citizens vs actual Mexicans (and more) who are NOT AMERICANS. You are correct about them being natural conservatives (they tend to be more religious, more family-orientated, more likely to be independent business owners, tend to be fiscally conservative), but, For sure what Maher says is a very big explanation. Some immigrants (so, this means actually did the immigration process) or maybe they are 1st generation but they NEED to earn $50 an hour with their landscaping business because they have to pay taxes, they need to register, do paperwork, they must have insurance etc etc etc, they need to then pay their mortgage and their car payments, credit lines for tool then property taxes and... ........300 illegals are wandering around making their own 'company' (totally illegal) and taking $5 and hour and they will never be accountable, don't do IRS taxes FFS, nobody an even know who they were or where they went anyway. So yes of course, If I'm an American Citizen I'm getting EFFED by illegals then ya I'd like them to have to go back.

90% of the plastic in the Pacific Ocean comes from Asia. This has been determined by the language on the plastic.
@MattHunX2 ай бұрын
Well, Most of it IS made there, and then shipped to every feckin' country. Even if you can't find any Asian languages on the labels, you can only find those of countries that are within the same zone, it will still say "Made in China" 99% percent of the time. And even if it's FOOD, it's still often shipped from the other damn side of the world, even when it could be grown where you are. Someone, somewhere rakes in the profits. And then some politicians have the gall to promise to bring back manufacturing and the jobs for it to their respective countries and not let all the cheap crap from China (in particular) flood the market, while those same politicians either happily move their manufacturing 'to' China or will happily shake hands with Chinese business men and let them into their country to build factories. Can see it here, in Hungary. And it's the same in the US, as well. Of course, the former (Hungary) is an insignificant backwater that believes it has power and influence and that it always had it, but everyone was always against them for it. While the US is an actual world-power still.

You got two people running for office. One says I'll fix this broken economy and bring down prices. The other says, things are great, you'd know that if you had a college degree. Even in a great economy, that seems like bad strategy.

Bill Shatner sounds preoccupied. He is going to be 94 next year, assuming his birth year of 1931 is correct. I'm not a huge fan, but I loved Star Trek when it came out and it changed my life and outlook on the world, briefly and at an simplistic level, but solid. I hope he is OK. His heart is in the right place, and he is a very interesting guy with a lot of life force.

@@MM1717mm "Nothing burger" - originally often seen written as "nothingburger" - was first popularized in the early 1950s, by a Hollywood-gossip columnist (Louella Parsons). Describes a person/idea that's essentially, well, nothing, and shows no sign of slowing down, in terms-of-usage.

The biggest killer for me was that she couldn’t speak unscripted. Same lines over and over. People need to know who you are, not the crap you are reading. It’s fine for one speech, but not all of them. Not doing Rogan was a huge missed opportunity. Well, if she could have come off likable and open and honest. She spoke like a crappy corporate video they make people watch at work.
