Damn! I am so proud to have produced AND directed this PBS Pledge Special! I am a little sad that whoever posted this from Dancing Cat Productions labeled it as a “Documentary” and removed the [CONTRACTUAL] opening credits. Heigh! Ho!! CHRISTOPHER TOYNE, Producer/Director

I just wrote the following poem and comment yesterday! "He Comes to Me Inviting" By Kerrie Lynn Robinson Dec 13, 2023 He comes to me inviting on piano, ether, and mind, and I perceive, I respond, and I climb that royal purple stairway. I climb that staff, a note upon lines following patterns of melody and rhythm to a place he has prepared for my triumph. And I triumph through well crafted, intricate, and elegant sensation bond, a call and response not from sheet music but sheet music still the same, a comeback upon his sublime masculine, musical reach. We are new verse upon even repetition and he, so inspirational. This is a high-flying time of my life, an alto accelerando, with absolutely amazing echoes to and through theatres in space. # WONDERFUL SET DESIGN AND LIGHTING: The stairs in the screenshot from the film of one of George Winston's stage performances, "Seasons in Concert," if viewed in a particular detail have all the correct elements for a musical staff: lines for E, G, B, D, and F (every great brilliance deserves favour) and spaces for F, A, C, and E (face, and faithful/fervent artists celebrate/create emotions). Furthermore, from a special, heightened perspective, the structure and lighting of the stairs cause them to appear to be the physical manifestation of George's personal musical reverberation in air, space, and time, as is the music emitted from every, single aspect and being of God's creation. I am familiar with George's reverberation. ~ Kerrie Lynn Robinson, Dec 14, 2023

@@christie4004Well, NOW it looks a little like a documentary. With the opening and closing credits and in thew genre of a PBS Pledge Special it was NOT a documentary, rather a comment on the music and George’s life (RIP)

Well good on you and well done, and here we don’t have to put up with the annoying pledge interruptions which are all the more galling given that PBS is already funded by taxpayer dollars and revenue from sponsorship promotions (cleverly avoiding the advertising injunction).

I found out yesterday that he died. Now I’m watching all the videos and weeping. I’m so sad I’ll never get to see him play live. This is a reminder folks: do the things you want to do NOW. Don’t wait or it will be too late and you will regret it.

Wow, I just found out reading the comments that he passed away last year. R.I.P you will be missed big time. Luckily your beautiful music and soul will stay forever. My 2 daughters and me were very lucky to see him perform in NYC a few years ago. I bought "December" in 1983, I was 17 then, the art cover caught my eye, and it said piano solos, so I gave it a quick listen of the 3 first tracks, and I was hooked right away. I have been listening to George Winston since with my wife and my daughters, and his music always sounds fresh, and colorful. His music is an escape, it connect us to the beauty of Nature. He also introduced me to the Windham Hill record world. George Winston and Erick Satie have the biggest influence on my piano compositions. Thank you George for what you brought to the World !

I started on a Hammond organ with lessons for 2.5 years. I thought it was so cool to play two keyboards and base pedals. Finally, I moved to piano and keyboards. There's nothing like playing anything I want. I've been playing for 40 years, now. It's like having a second skin.

The thing I loved about a George Winston concert is that myself and the rest of the audience sat still and listened to the music no jumping up and down no screaming, no yelling no crazy fans just a very quiet, thoughtful man performing his virtuosity on the piano. A very nice night out.

George Winston I attended a couple of your Seasons shows at The Whiting auditorium in Flint Mi in what I believe was 1994 or 1995. You opened the show with Rain, which was appropriate, being that it was raining pretty heavily outside at the time. Always got a kick out of the fact that you came out with no shoes on and played in your socks. Been a big fan since the very early 80s. Still have the Programs for the shows

Don't be an a-hole. I'm an excellent pianist and I refuse to discredit this man like many. I always say there is always someone better than you.. but his compositions and voicings are not trite. They are excellent. They are not as simplistic and many would like to believe like the gazillions of others and trash you hear on the Spa channel on sirius radio. Just as a composer he deserves massive credit, not even considering the performing.
