My wiper on the E91 was seized and the mechanism was completely corroded and had expanded. I had to drill it out and replaced the switch and mechanism. Ball ache of a job.

My 2008 318d does exactly this, might be worth a look. The boot lights come up as if it's open and and the wiper is actually stuck. During a day it's not an issue, however if it happens when it's dawn or just night time, it makes you feel as if someone's driving behind you really really close.

Excellent video George. I have the same problem on my E91 as it won't budge. One question though; your video showed you starting to use the Dremel on the protruding section of the microswitch, but did you carry on using this tool as you got closer to the wiper arm spindle or something else to avoid scratching the glass tailgate as that bit of the microswitch has a lower profile?

Yes pretty much, used screwdrivers to pry at it too. Once it gets pretty close it will just snap away

Hi, the reservoir is hidden in the trunk, on the right wall right above battery. The pump is on reservoir

where did you buy from the shaft pivot and its the small pin in the central part should move isnt? i mean if you push it automatically should flip out? because the old one does even if was corroded the new one i bought it doesnt move? so im thinking to send back thanks for your help

How dd you open the glass tailgate when the switch is broken and the motor won't disengage the locking eye??

You can also open it with the button on the remote or with INPA

Was surprised to see it wasn't completely seized to the point the wiper doesn't move at all. That's a common error on rear wipers. But a fix is a fix 👍

Mate I've just had the same problem with my E61 2007. Used my Dremel, Screwdrivers , Chisels and Malgrips to do mine. NIGHTMARE BUT ALL DONE NOW. Diversity Antenna to do next hope not wires so key fobs lock and open the doors
