The thing with copper is not that it is too thick, it's that the copper specifically stops the magnet field, which turns into current induced in the copper material.

@@897473 I have a feeling I'm going to try to custom make one with parts around the shops since I have a few hard drive and other magnets. Still not sure about the design. Thought magnets in the center of a short block or thick wall tube, with a stud to bolt on the ground lead, attached at the end of a threaded rod on a fixed nut on the top of the tube with a handle. Not certain what I'd have that will be a thread with very few TPI to make a larger range of motion in a fraction of a turn however. Looking forward to you uses for inspiration in for other utility.

very nice! I want to buy a welder. What type would you recommend for a home shop? A choice one for someone new to it?
@897473
@897473 8 жыл бұрын
+ESCAGEDO WOODWORKING That's a broad question. Depends on what you want to do. Also, how much money you want to spend. If you are primarily welding steel to steel, then a Mig welder. If money is an issue, then you might consider a flux cored Mig welder. Some people really like these. Going up in price, you may want a Mig welder that uses shielding gas. I use argon 75. Another choice is Oxy/Ace: With OXy/Ace you can weld, braze, heat, bend and anneal copper. As you can see, there are several choices. Let me know what you want to do with welding and maybe we can narrow it down.

@@897473 I found the parent site, and, from them, a supplier in the UK, and have asked for a price from them. I'm in France, but the French often charge 2-3 times the price from the UK, and they are usually double the USA price, plus shipping! They will be good to hold things to my wood turning lathe bed, like spindle steady, etc. I've scanned your site and all the videos, and will look at them in more detail later. I made copper jewellery when I was 12-13, 'for me mum' which was over 60 years ago. So it might be amusing to try again.
