A long time ago a co-worker had his house burn down. He asked me for $1,000 to help him until the insurance check arrived. Because he was a stand up guy and helped others I gave him the money. He paid me back on time with no problems. It did not cause any problems with our relationship.

That kind of thing is usually safer when it’s a one-time life-altering event happening to someone who would never normally need help, the people to watch out for are the ones who have a dozen “emergencies” every month, they won’t be paying you back 😂

It's also better to assume any money you give is a gift rather than a loan. If paid back, great! If not, you had low expectations in the first place. But yeah, his advice is solid because they have to GIVE YOU A REASON EVERY TIME. For that person who keeps coming back, eventually you would call them on being full of sh*t.

Hey George, I’d be retiring or working less in 8 years, and considering this financial recession, Im deciding to begin taking up skilled trades. I’m curious to know best how people split their pay, how much of it goes into savings, spendings or investments, I earn around 120K per year but nothing to show for it yet.

I have made loans to some friends. Some have paid me back. Ok. Good to know who does that. Going out, if there is a problem paying the check it usually means I am just paying it. I make my own donations and do not want to contribute to a company's write-offs. If I can't afford to be part of your wedding, it is way too much. Live below your means, and life is easier.

And yaknow the craziest part?? Some states have abolished the tip wage, which means the employees DO get paid fairly, so you don’t have to tip. And yet we still do. I worked in GA making $2/hr as a server for several years, so I was a big tipper. I moved to WA 2 years ago and recently found out that servers here get paid $15/hr…but I’ve been tipping them as if they earn $2 and need the money. 🤦‍♀️
