Thanks George. Really helpful. And, yes, in my small experience marathon training is all about systematically following a schedule. To pursue the analogy, for longer runs the advice is generally to go slower than you normally would to avoid injury, which reminds me of your "strict about showing up, lenient about results". Also important, like for JoyPro athletes is good rest between training sessions.
