Best music selection of any channel - so much that I refuse to watch these on my phone unless it's connected to decent audio. The visuals are clearly gorgeous, obviously. Just no one mentions the selection of tunes, which really complement both the story and the changes in pace.

Such a smooth seamless flow to the story, which underpins the smooth rich tones of the narration, and is perfectly complemented by the fascination of the stop motion segments… all of which is shot with a film-maker’s eye for storytelling. I think this might be your most ‘cinematic’ episode I’ve watched (and I think I’ve watched them all). Just a joy to watch. As enjoyable as any good docu-soap on commercial TV.

I purchased a blasting cabinet a few years ago from a company named Skat here in the states. When it comes to working on old cars, it’s pretty much my favorite tool in the shop. My cabinet has a piece of metal stretch cloth that separates and provides a platform for the item you are blasting. That way it doesn’t have to bathe in the media like your wheel was doing.
@pyroboobysmith359 Жыл бұрын
I have had a cabinet for years and would not even start a car project without one. I remove my mesh divider for the bigger pieces, so the item is not up in your face.

I suspect this was just the initial test run to make sure it was working before George gets into the finishing details. He was so enthusiastic to get the first test run in, he didn't even bother to remove the tyre valve or wheel weight yet! I'm sure the grid, which he mentioned was missing, will be added soon.

It has been said that 'a change is as good as a holiday', and this is an excellent demonstration, George! A blasting cabinet & an ultrasonic bath are 2 things I would want when doing a restoration. We had a small ultrasonic where I worked a few decades ago. It was fantastic at getting gunk out of all sorts of places & things. At one point I even took a few motorbike carbs in that couldn't be balanced & ran them through it. They came out & were good as new afterwards! No trouble to balance then. The blasting cabinet is a great tool for getting all the surfaces, nooks & crannies cleaned, and is great prep for painting too!
@malcolmyoung7866 Жыл бұрын
I bought and ultrasonic cleaner etc . Worked fantastic.. For about an hour… the transducers were merely glued to the stainless bath.. disappointing and no comebacks as I had waited more than 90 days before usage..and no warranty after that. I will fix it.. just need an R Tech welder and some stainless stuff… Transducers bought a sit on my shelving unit amongst the other stuff that awaits placement in (hopefully) the correct place within the appropriate project.. whichever that is ….

Got a blast cabinet 2 years ago from a Polish company, delivered for €569. It's a side loader, they had changed to a front loading design and these were on sale. Saved me a fortune! But I could do with a tandem compressor. It's in it's element at about 110psi. I think I need larger bore piping and a bigger mist separator to increase flow. Works great with Applied fine crushed glass. The filtration system is getting old, may go down the cyclone separator route in the future. Anyhow, it really helped me out and continues to do so.

AWESOME George.. My cabinet is one of those ‘chinesium’ knockoffs works OK… better when Jed is working on it. Ear defence and face mask highly recommended although your extraction system a bit better than my shop vac… Jed only work the sand blaster when he is not ‘languishing’ on the floor under something with the needle scaler… some say I am too soft on the lad… maybe.. either way he can’t hear me swearing about his ‘slow work rate’ over the noise of that compressor… or shop vac… OR BOTH!!

Nice work George! What blasting media are you using? I bought a similar sized cabinet last summer and it's the best investment I've made in my workshop. I wish I bought one years ago. Had to make a significant investment to upgrade my compressor at the same time to run it, but both the compressor and cabinet were worth every penny as it's made proper in-house restoration of old rusty car parts a possibility without having to pay third parties to blast stuff for me.

From the restorer's point of view mixing some variety is a good idea. Though from a viewer's perspective, the lotus is the one I really enjoy watching. Not so keen on the van.
@stevewoodw Жыл бұрын
It looks like there's a bit of a bend to the sides where you were putting the hole covers on - did you need to seal up the holes with epoxy to make sure they're going to be able to seal in the media? Also, the rim looked like it would benefit from a wetsand and then some quality gaffer tape to improve the seal - not as good as a purpose designed edging tape but with a bit of heat and glue if necessary it would probably last a year or two. Heat on it would help get the seal around the edge to it's best. I don't think I watched the whole of the video but I saw a guy trying to convert a fridge to a media-blasting cabinet by putting a perspex window in and cutting the holes for the gloves and the air-inlet pipe. This looked kind of crazy to me but when I see people like yourself trying to blast something that is too big for their cabinet, I know they'll see a chest freezer being thrown out and ask a mate who lives in the sticks if they'll think about converting it. Maybe you won't need one of those.....
