Georges Delerue was a multi-talented composer. In my thoughts, probably one of the best. His ability to treverse different styles in musical form, demonstrated his chemilion like abilities as a composer. The Borgias fits in with Interlude, Anne of thousand Days and A Man For All Seasons. A much missed, and gifted composer.

You're welcome! It is a very rare soundtrack, unfortunately not very well known, because the TV series "The Borgias" apparently wasn't well received at the time it was aired. I haven't seen the series yet, so cannot comment on its quality, but the music Delerue composed is fantastic! No one did historical film scores like him, he had such a unique style and he wasn't shy of using real Renaissance instruments, which unfortunately not many composers did at the the time, Nino Rota being an exception. It took me a long time to find this score and it was definitely worth the wait. Another Delerue masterpiece!

@@frances081097 I agree 100 %! I love Renaissance instruments and wish they would be used more in film scores. But there are some contemporary composers who have incorporated them in their music: Richard Harvey, Debbie Wiseman, Jocelyn Pook, Mychael Danna, John Williams, etc.

​@@LadyViolet7 If you like composers that use period instruments in their work you might like this score by Toru Takemitsu kzbin.info/www/bejne/d2a2ZKlohteraqs . It’s from the 1989 film Rikyu, he uses a lot of traditional Japanese and European Renaissance instruments in this score with elements from Eustache Du Caurroy’s Fantaisies that I think you’ll like.

Brilliant i have the original albums on Cassette and Vinyl. The Original series was business. Great actors particularly the Pope.Best part was Cesare.
