Lovely 225 George. We are looking at changing our T7.210 for a 225 at the moment, the steering lock on my 210 is exceptional and that’s on 600 fronts too. I noticed my front wheels are set quite wide (non adjustable rims) and I’m thinking the front wheels have been swapped so the bigger dish is on the outside and the steering lock can be increased. Worth a mention to the dealers.

That's a real beauty of a new tractor, George. One reason farmers aren't keen on trying new products is that if you find something that works for you, then you stick with it regardless of cost. I remember changing silage bale wrap brand one year, and I went from Visqueen to Silaflex. Well, the Grays Tubeline wrapper didn't like it and it wouldn't work properly through pre stretch rollers on the wrapper. I had been told that Silaflex would be no problem by the guy in the dealership I bought it from, and I bought a whole pallet of it. Well, I returned the pallet of Silaflex minus 2 rolls and went back to Visqueen wrap, which gave no problems. The biggest problem was that I was contract wrapping for someone that day and having to stop because of problem wrap didn't go down well with the customer that day. It lost a couple of hours of wrapping time trying to obtain a supply of Visqueen wrap. So if you have something that works for you then stick with it

20:00 Those machine makers hold specifications as a secret. I once asked McHale about data interface between wrapper and remote unit. They don't give info out. It's easy problem. Load bale on wrapper and push remote button to start wrapping. I had idea to make loader joystick button to start wrapper. They never give out specification of their data communication protocols. They thinks someone will steal their bread.

That was quite interesting George. The New Holland T7 225 is a far cry from the Ford 3000 that I learnt to drive on. What I find frustrating about round balers is the constant need to have to stop to release the bale. Obviously, there is good reason as to why the operator needs to stop, or there will bales rolling around everywhere. I am sort of surprised that no manufacturer has come up with a simple system that allows the bale to roll out smoothly and come to a stop whilst allowing the tractor-baler unit to still be in motion. If anyone came up with a good, simple system, then baling times per field would be drastically reduced. Perhaps there have been research and development done, but the costs involved would make the baler far too expensive. Not all farms and fields benefit from nice relatively flat land and slopes are probably the biggest challenge in developing such a system.

Gomselmash is a manufacturer of agricultural machinery based in the city Gomel, Belarus. The name is an acronym put together of Gomel (the city, Гомель), selskaya (agricultural, слельская) and machine (машина), Гомсельмаш in Cyrillic letters. It was, maybe still is, very commmon to name manufacturers of agricultural machinery in that way in Belarus and Russia. Rostselmash (Ростсельмаш) is another example which is based in Rostov-on-Don, Russia.

I remember as a small child in the early fifties we had an Allis-Chalmers Round Baler and you had to stop to tie and eject the Bale. And of course that is still true today. Has any company attempted to make a continuous Round Baler? On the principle of how they work I guess that would be a tall order.

The new F5 balers from McHale have soft stops at the and of the stroke at top & bottom, done via software, its very smooth. The new balers have pressure gauge on the monitor and a progress bar to show you that you are close to a full bale. There is also a camera looking at the door to show the bale pushing the door open. ISOBUS TIM (Tractor Implement Management) works by the baler controlling the Tractor. Its Work in progress at McHale I believe.
