Loving your videos George! Been subscribed since harvest last year. Always been passionate about farming since I was a nipper just haven't pulled my finger out and gotten into it yet. Applied to go back to college in September on a lv 3 agric course and I can't wait to get my foot in. Watching your videos is genuinely teaching me a few things before I get there. So thanks for doing what you do :)

Some nice ploughing, George. If you don't want the plough to lift as high go into the linkage setting on the tractor's computer and set an upper limit using the scroll wheel.

Nice work George. I never used a roll over plough, but the most satisfying days on a tractor was getting your strike outs and finishes close to perfection. Sandy soils help. Jam on the wheel brakes will swing her around, especially with the 6 furrow thrashing around behind. Looking forward to see the Autosteer used when ploughing

George, dont know whether you've worked it out or not yet but you can adjust the lower depth limit with that grey coloured toothed wheel next to the slider. push your slider up to the stop (forwards motion) and then depress the toothed wheel with your index finger and you can roll it up or down to act as a hard stop so if you knock the slider you know where it was set.. its a good system once you get used to it. for ploughing I usually start at the end of the field with the plough resting on the ground (no penetration) and then draw on slowly whilst depressing and rolling the tooth wheel (to increase depth of plough) until you get it where you want! All the best.

I used to work hard stay straight, to be "artful" as my pop used to say... but when I did really good and was hoping for some praise, pop would say, "You are doing the job like I told you, like you are supposed to do. Payday tells you if you did the job, now get back to work."

@george The lock on the deere can be adjusted I am sure on most tractors it can. But there are 2 stops on the axel, I think they are something like 17mm spanner. It depends on tire width and how it was set up at the factory and dealership. But we have 540's on the front of our 6150r and she has a great lock since we made a few minor adjustments. Just be careful with clearance on the fenders and tire tread clipping the chassis obviously but it worth a look.

Nowt wrong with having pride in your work and taking a bit of time to straighten things out. It gets done in the end and you can look back at it and feel satisfied that you've done a good job. Nice to see you setting the plough up as well. Have you done any ploughing with a conventional plough, you know, setting out ridges and finishings, that sort of thing?

Why do you have the plough so narrow George. I have the same 6 furrow plough on heavy land and I plough at least 16 inch furrows. When on light land I plough at 20 inch ( we only gave small amount of light land though)

3:50 I guess you have figured out by now, that you should not flick the SCV Control Lever all the way to the detent position. Just move it in the 'manual' range to extend or retract and simply release it to stop the hydraulic ram. When you 'click' the lever in the detent position (at the end of the levers travel) the ram wil extend or retract to the preset height (based on flow rate and timing).

Please do a video about pros and cons with JCB vs JD (or conventional tractors in general), if you already done that I apologize. Any thoughts about MB trac? their a bit old but the same concept as fastrac.

Very good, missing a Flodger-Dodger though! One question from a non-ploughman: Am I right in thinking that the top link will be " floating" while in work?
@GeorgeSaunders
@GeorgeSaunders 4 жыл бұрын
Yes, you should be able to take the top link off whilst you are going up the field👍
@hywelisthebest

Nice George. Quick question - when it's all setup and running well with the toplink floating in the slot like that, would your link arms also be in float? like you would when pulling a subsoiler? or are they fixed in position?
@robthompson466
@robthompson466 7 жыл бұрын
From the bit of ploughing I've done, you set the height/depth with the position control then use the draught control to set how much a arms are allowed to move in the soil, I might be wrong but its sorta how it works in my head haha
@hywelisthebest
@hywelisthebest 7 жыл бұрын
Yes probably right. I am sure that draught control works based on wheel slip

How did the JCB 4220's fuel consumption compare to the JD's when ploughing? I would imagine, considering their reputation, the JD would be worst at fuel consumption but I wouldn't be surprised if it was the JCB either.

@Komputerforingen

when i am plowing, driving straight is not a 1. priority for me. i know its looking good, but i am more interested in making the surface smooth. understood in the way that, it shouldnt be possible to see how many furrows have, when i am looking at the field. it have seen some really bad exsamples where i could easily count the furrows on the plow, and that made me grinch a little.
