Because of this review (largely): I got this razor:I've had my Merkur Futur for over 5 years now. For all that time I would never dare to shave my head w/ it. Way too aggressive! The first DE razor I got when I came back to wet shaving was a Van Der Hagen grocery store find. I shaved my head w/ it at night and woke up the next day w/ blood all over my pillows! So, I was "once bitten, twice shy". From then on I used a cart for my head and my Merkur for my face (set at various settings (2-6)). Recently, I got the parker 96R. It was also a no go for my head, too aggressive as well. Yesterday I took delivery of a Rockwell T2 (gunmetal). I just finished the SOTD and at setting 3, two pass and cleanup. It was so smooth that I got brave! I shaved my head with it (3 days growth, mind you). Not one weeper. Not one hot spot w/ the alum block. DFS! This razor is outstanding. Shaving gear I used: 1. Grooming Lounge pre shave oil. 2. Cremo Shaving cream. 3. Parker shaving brush 4. Rockwell T2C. 5. Russian Astra Platinum blade. 6. Gentleman John alum block. 7. Fine Accoutrements "American Blend" after shave.

I got the T2 and the 6S during prime day for a total of 166, which means I got the 6S for ~70 and the T2 for ~90. For that price, these razors are great! I’ve already done 3 shaves with each and they are pretty good, for the price I got.

Wow…I was AWOL from wet shaving for years. Thanks to you and a couple of other KZbinrs I jumped back in with the T2SS (Nacet and Gillette Platinum blades) and the transition has been seamless and utterly fantastic. Just love this razor. DFS and BBS galore. I’m now thinking about a second razor and the TiSS and the Konsul Xl are incredibly tempting. Would appreciate your thoughts. BTW, I love your passion and enthusiasm. Keep it up. Wish we could have a beer or whisky together sometime and share war stories. Thanks!
@MarkSzorady10 ай бұрын
Donald, thank you for the kind words.:) I have the standard Konsul and it's a FABULOUS razor! Just be aware that the T2SS is tuned a bit milder than some other adjustable razors. So, if you're shaving with it at level 3, you'll want to start your shaves with the Konsul a bit milder until you figure out where you should be with its calibration. And remember to use it just as you would any other DE razor. Don't try to adjust for the slanted razor head. Again, use it like any other DE razor. The Konsul delivers a beautiful smooth shave. That slant action makes a difference. One caveat, make sure to pay close attention when loading a blade. Make sure that the tabs are all the way through the center of the blade and that it is seated correctly. It's not a deal breaker, but you need to be a little more aware. One other point, you may want to buy a less expensive slant razor just to understand the experience of using this kind of razor. If so, I recommend the iKpn X3 slant. It's a mild performer and very well built. iKon Shave Craft - X3 Slant Razor: ikonrazors.com/products/ikon-shave-craft-x3-slant-razor I hope this helps.:) Enjoy the wet shaving journey!

Thanks Mark for another great video! I am new to wet shaving and I have the Rockwell 6C and I love it! but I am looking for something that is adjustable that I do not have to take apart and change plates several times during shaving on those days that I have longer beard growth than normal. I was pretty sure that the Rockwell T2 was the Razor that I wanted to buy but after seeing your video along with some others I'm now completely sure this is the one. Thanks again! and thanks for all you do! Happy shaving and God Bless you.
@MarkSzorady2 жыл бұрын
Tim, I'm glad you found the video helpful. :) The T2 adjusts from1 to 6 and I've found, for me, it starts to get aggressive above setting 3. But because the adjustment dial is smooth and continuous can tweak it as much as I'd like. I prefer razors on the mild side. Even though I keep the T2 toward milder side, I can still nuance the settings as much as I want.

Great video Mark. I am still looking for the perfect blade for my T2. I used a PAA Stranglet blade for my first shave because it works great on my Rockwell 6S but I did not get a very comfortable shave. Nice video Mark! I can't believe I missed out on that deal! I had a shave today with my 6C and actually used plate 5 to start. Though it was aggressive, it was smooth and very efficient. I finished with plate 4 then 2 and came away with a BBS without having to buff and not one bit of irritation. Rockwell's quality and tolerances are fantastic! I really want a T2 and will probably get one before the year is over. I really hope the Rockwell blades work for you. They did not agree with my face, they seemed to tug on the lower plate levels and when I tried them with the aggressive plates they seemed to scrape at the hair. But my facial hair is thick and tough. Have a great week!

Hi, xaTASTEofCHAOSx. Thaksfor the feedback on the Rockwell blades. I'm thinking, for me, coated blades (platinum, chromium, etc.) is the way to go. @MarkSzorady2 жыл бұрын
Thaks for the nice words, Doug. It comes down to what you want from the razor. With the 6S, you get a fully stainless razor that will allow you to find your perfect level for shaving. Just pick the proper plate level form the6 provided. (6 levels from 3 double-sided plates). So adjusting it involve actually swapping out a plate if this is what you want. I use the #3 plate which is also the #1plate on the opposite side. I can do two passes with the #3 plate, then flip over to #1 to do a light third pass. But wanting to go to level 2 for the third pass involves grabbing a different plate. Or, you simply find the plate that best works for you and lock into that for your daily shaves. With the T2, you get a fully adjustable razor. The end tabs are enclosed in the razor head where they are slightly exposed on the 6S, but very minimal. The T2 i made from Stainless, Brass and Zinc alloy. Those are the differences. Both are solid and well made. The 6S is made in U.S.A., the T2 is assembled in Canda from parts made in the U.S., Canada and China. One last point, ..some wet shavers claim the 6S stainless material has a different feel on the skin than chrome plated razors. Some are fine with this, as am I, however, others find that the 6C chrome plated version is feels smoother on the skin. HTH

Hey Mark, I've watched about 30 of your videos trying to decide what safety razor to buy, and I'm stumped. I have sensitive skin and own the Gillette Heritage with the Gillette blades that come with it, but it gives me razor bumps pretty badly. It also clogs quickly with PAA ck6 soap. I was thinking the PAA Meta-4, but it nicked you in videos. Then I thought maybe the Henson mild, but that nicked you as well. Any suggestions for one razor?
@MarkSzorady2 жыл бұрын
Maps, I don't recall the nicks, but my guess is they sealed p pretty quickly with the alum block. So, I'd say they were inconsequential. However, I understad your situation. I can recommend two razors that are incredibly mild. The first is the Merkur 34C. (Affiliate link) Merkur Mk34c Double Edge Razor with Heavy Duty Short Handle: amzn.to/3PAmOns A very mild 2-piece razor. On a scale of 1 to 10, most would say it rates a 2...maybe a 3. Very surprised how it has jumped in price, though. The other razor that has a nice, mild approach is the iKon X3 Slant: www.ikonrazors.com/product/x3-slant-razor-on-85mm-bulldog/ Love this razor and its smooth, mild approach. Mild enough for me to use for head shaves, nice efficiency. As always, YMMV. I'll also add that the Meta 4 is a wonderful razor. Well-made and delivers a mild, efficient shave. The Karve Overlander is exceptional, as well. HTH.
