Actually UGA didn’t lose to Alabama, the officials beat Georgia because of calls they got wrong. The 4th down incomplete pass to Bond in the second quarter should have turned the ball over to UGA. Instead the officials ruled it a complete pass without stopping to verify they got the call right using video review. This extended Alabamas drive, giving them a chunk yardage play and momentum to score 7 points they neither earned or deserved. Take those 7 points away and UGA wins 24-20. In the 3rd quarter an Alabama defender tackled a UGA runner by the face mask which should have given UGA 1st and goal on the 2 yard line. This happened right in front of the line judge and he didn’t throw the flag. Hummm! UGA settled for 3 point FG whereas they probably would have gotten 7 with the penalty.

Well lets start with something that happened pre game before the SEC Championship game. Sankey seemed VERY confident that the SEC would get both UGA and Bama in the CFP if Bama won the game. Secondly... the opening drive the Dawgs cut through them like a hot knife through butter. Sure Bama made some adjustments but there has not ever been a second series adjustment that persists for 2 quarters. Something happened and I think the league said that Bama needs to win because Saban is retiring and he needs one last shot at a title. Listen to the conversation post game between Saban and Coach Smart. Saban says he is too old to be doing this. They laugh a little and Kirby says "well try to enjoy it" and "you're a helluva coach". That sounds like a send off to me. Put 2 and 2 together. Sankey got handed a pile of horseshit and UGA got screwed blue and tattooed. That is what happened. Look for Saban to announce his retirement before mid January.

Undoubtedly a top 2 team this year just unfortunate with the timing of the loss and how it all worked out. They lost to Bama because Bobo/Kirby thought they could skate by with a low risk/overly conservative offensive game plan that included forcing the run to the boundary and to the outside edge of the box which clearly wasn't there. In addition, they allowed an obviously injured McConkey who was probably around 70% to take critical snaps from an obvious and just as capable playmaker (Bell) who was at 100%.

The UGA defense wasn't the problem against Alabama. Its was a scared and vanilla offense. Alabama got gifted 10 points against Georgia. The terrible reverse call and the 4th down incompletion called a catch. Georgia defense was good enough to win the Championship. The defense from 21' is not coming back. You guys keep dog piling the defense when the offense should have been more aggressive. Michigan ran the ball but at least it was creative.
