Some of the old silver and reds are actually still in use. I filmed them a few weeks ago for our channel.

Considering how steep the grades are on this line the locos are performing just fine. But since this video was taken all but the two newest ones in this consist have been retired and replaced. Now probably takes 4 to pull the grade.

OMG, is the terrain that steep in North Georgia , Do they really need so many units to pull such short trains up there ?

Yes, these trains are very heavy (loaded grain) and there are grades up to 2.5% if I remember right. The line was very cheaply built so did not employ many cuttings or fills to reduce grades.
