The majority of these consists will never be seen again, there are a few GP38-2s left on the NS roster but many of the other locomotives trailing are gone as well.

Fantastic footage!!!! I hope some more are saved as high hoods.

Shortlines unfortunately are most likely the only gap between these locomotives and the scrap yards. It's great to see that they can still be useful though.

Hey also, I know you filmed a bit on the Athens Line railroad. A group working with Benny plan on restoring 6525, the Chessie Cat locomotive that you used to film. If you want to come down the day that restoration finishes, I'd love to pay for your flight ticket if so!

Thanks for posting. Great clear camera work. Such a great variety of locations. A few high hood GP38-2 are still running today on the former PRSL as Conrail. NO wood chip cars are around here! I noticed the numbers on 3552 are a little crooked! I am making a NS high hood GP38-2 in S Scale. See LanesTrains.com

Thanks! Indeed it seems what remaining highhoods there are left are all up north.

Have you planned on filming the Hartwell railroad anymore? Because I know the Hartwell actually bought one of these ex Norfolk Southern High hoods recently
@nikosjk14 жыл бұрын
I currently live a few thousand miles from Hartwell so safe to say that won't be happening anytime soon. I have seen shots of their GP38-2, glad they got one.

Between these 6 years what a time it was to rail fan on the East Coast. I love high hoods and feel it will be a sad day when the only way you'll get to see them in action is on shortlines. Time can be so cruel to older locomotives.

All the changes are f-ing aggravating. I live in Commerce and occasionally we’ll still see one here.

It would be been so much easier to just turn the control stand around and put it on the other of the cab and make the short hood the front. Idk why they didnt do that. Short hood forward you can see fine.
@duckslayer500 Жыл бұрын
They do actually do that on some high hoods
