Both of the suspects had prior criminal histories. The driver, Broderick Dunn, 22, had been in a police pursuit three years earlier. The other perp, Amarion Clotter, 18, had drug and gun charges. The perp who exited the SUV on Edgewood Avenue, Montavious Lovejoy, was suffering a gunshot wound. There had been some kind of beef that led to Lovejoy getting shot, and Dunn was supposedly driving Lovejoy to the hospital. Neither Dunn nor Clotter were wearing seatbelts. They had an AR-15 in the vehicle. It was after midnight. Dunn didn't have a driver's license.

@MAkAVeLlIiii i am glad to hear that :) While i do think these officers are very brave to engange in such chases that endanger their own lives as well, it is simply not prudent, efficient, or beneficial to do so when policies that allow such reckless chases statistically endanger the lives of bystanders far more than they improve the rate of catching criminals, especially now that we have helicopters to handle pursuits in more crowded areas and/or more high speed chases. Literally everyone involved and not involved is more endangered by such policies. I know you already agreed with me but i love elaborating 😅

Escape does happen. One of the helicopter announcers in a los angeles chase said that 19 percent of those that run do successfully get away in the end. They are smart enough to get the car to a place where they can leave the car and blend into a crowd of people. That might mean they have to drive wild enough and dangerous enough to force the police into a tracking mode. That gives them the time to quickly head to a spot where they can bail and blend into the crowd. In my city, there was one case where they bailed at an apartment complex where they apparently lived. But they ducked inside an apartment and all the apartments look the same. The police are unable to go fishing by opening up every apartment to identify someone that cannot be proven to be the suspect at the time of inspection. There's no search warrant so the rest of the apartment cannot be searched if they say "I do not consent". That was how those people got away in my city for that case.
