1. SOUNDBITE (English) Jon Diggs, Atlanta Resident:
"So right now, I'm still in a little bit of a shock. I haven't processed yet what that means for Biden to drop out. I don't know what that means for people of the aging community, because a lot of ageism became a part of the talk, with Biden dropping out. I don't know how I feel yet about Biden dropping out and in endorsing Kamala yet and what all that means. So I guess the overall message is, I think a lot of people like me in the United States who are particularly maybe in the middle, undecided or even leaning Democrat, we're still in shock and we don't really know what that means for us.”

2. SOUNDBITE (English) Jon Diggs, Atlanta Resident:
"So I don't think that either party has done a good job for the middle class and particularly the middle class African American person. I think there are point of views on both sides. As a person who's historically voted Democrat."

3. SOUNDBITE (English) Johnny Bester, Atlanta Resident:
“I think that it should have happened a long time ago, to be honest. I was a little nervous about the direction of our country because of Biden being in office for such a long period of time, and I didn't want to see that again, to be honest. But then we think about candidacy and we look at Trump and then who else do we have? "

4. SOUNDBITE (English) Johnny Bester, Atlanta Resident:
"“The endorsement that I saw with Kamala, I'm not a fan of that as well. I feel like a lot of us forgot that she was even in the office, because she hasn't been too vocal. She hasn't been too visible.”

STORYLINE:
President Joe Biden has announced that he is withdrawing from the 2024 presidential race. The announcement Sunday upends the dynamics of the presidential election, in which Biden was to face Republican nominee Donald Trump. Biden's decision to drop his quest for a second term in the White House comes after a poor debate performance that prompted many Democrats to urge him to withdraw from the race.
“I think that it should have happened a long time ago, to be honest. I was a little nervous about the direction of our country because of Biden being in office for such a long period of time, and I didn't want to see that again, to be honest," said Johnny Bester.
Biden says he will support Vice President Kamala Harris to be the party's nominee and he hopes Democrats will unite behind her.
