If a product is partnered with software to make it work to its best, it needs to support all formats users may have from the get go. Is there a manual available? I´m looking for the ability to avoid the signal path of the 750 KH. Hi there! The iPad® connects to the monitors via a standard IP network with an Ethernet cable between the router and monitor. In case of a 2.0 stereo configuration with the KH 750 DSP the stereo pair receives the analog audio signal directly from the subwoofer.

Am thinking about buying a KH 750 -> Question: Is there a normal software-version of the "Control App" for a Desktop PC? (OS: Win10) Because buying an iPad just for this would be a dealbreaker. :-/

If so, I don't get it. In studios and homestudios most people use desktop PCs. So number 1 target customers would be the 500 million Win10 users and not the 50 Million iPad owners (which a hugh number is owned by Kids). It's no big deal for a normal programmer to develop a software in 2 different operation systems. Maybe get a better developer. And pls don't use Wifi for no reason. USB or LAN-cable will do just fine, like any other good tech has. Wifi becomes more and more an health hazard. And signals get jammed by the high number of networks in some areas. At the latest when there are babys no more wifi in the house. Thus: If a device can't deactivate Wifi - it's more than unprofessional. Hope it helps a little to get the view of people who already payed a huge amount of money to your company and are now more than confused about this. Have a pleasant time!

Hello there. One question. When I use the app and apply a Highpass on my Kh80 I have to switch the monitors to „Network“. If I however remove the Ethernet cable and want to adjust ,,, basically Anything on the back panel , it is overridden by the App. I then have to switch to „Local“ but then loose the settings in the App. Am I understanding this right? It’s „either the app“ or „the other way „? Cheers!

I heard these monitors a while ago and I was very very impressed by the sound. But when I found out that these do not have digital inputs, I got a bit anxious about the unnecessary signal degradation that could result from the A/D conversion. I decided to continue searching for other options under $1000, but I was disappointed every single time. Eventually, I trusted my ears more than my scientific proficiency. I purchased a pair earlier this week, and I couldn't be happier. I trust that the engineering team and R&D must have been sufficiently satisfied with the A/D conversion process, but this is still a question that is unanswered in my mind, and it bothers me to this day. If there was a hypothetical KH 80 which would feed digital input directly to the DSP engine/DAC, would it have made an audible difference in rendering the audio from the source? Or maybe I really am overthinking this. I would appreciate if someone from your team were to give me some insight.

Hello Kamil, you are completely right. In general it is always better not to have conversions from analog to digital and back again if it can be avoided. What ultimately counts however is the overall performance that can be achieved. With the high resolution 24 bit AD and DA converters which are on top of that switched in parallel to reduce the remaining already extremely low noise level in combination with the DSP internal double precision 32 bit signal processing the limiting factor is not the conversion even though the completely symmetrical analog chain is on highest achievable level. With the KH80 in the same way as with our analog monitors we achieve a noise level of 0 dB(A) in 1 m distance which is very remarkable. The digital resolution is way above that.

@@GeorgNeumannGmbH I have one other question which I would appreciate if you could take the time to answer as well. For volume management, there is an analog control (potentiometer I assume) for "input gain". On the other hand, I would assume that the "output level" control that follows occurs at the 32 bit digital level. Are these assumptions correct? Because if this is correct, in theory, the 32 bit DSP engine gives me room for bit-perfect volume reduction in the digital domain (-48 db window for a 24 bit input @ -6db reduction/bit). Whereas, using the analog control means introducing resistance to the circuit which is never ideal. But somehow, to my ears the speakers only sound best with "output level" maxed out to 114 db. The problem is that this makes the volume increments on my DAC very sensitive at low volumes, and so, I have to attenuate using "input gain" instead. For this reason, I will have to utilize some degree of volume control from the back of the speakers. What does Neumann recommend in this regard?

Hi Kamil, First of all, we double checked the internal resolution we are using. It isn‘t 32 bit but 56 in double precision mode what we are using. Sorry about that! Most of the volume control inside the KH 80 is done in the digital domain. Also the pot is connected to the DSP which then controls the level. Just the output level switch also changes the analog input gain. In general you should set the output level of your source as high as possible and reduce the volume on the KH 80 accordingly. This leads to highest s/n ratio. We recommend setting up the output level to 100 dB SPL and the pot to max if your source gives you the freedom to drive it that way. Hi Kamil, the tuning frequency of the KH 80 is at about 60 Hz. We recommend a x-over frequency of 80 Hz with 24 dB/oct LiRi.

Hello! No, it's absolutely not the same result!😊 The Control App provides manual limited adjustment options for IOS systems. The App is a delay and EQ adjustment program on a manual basis. (Also, the Control App is no longer supported.) The MA 1 software is an automatic calibration system with phase correction and limited manual intervention options. It is also available for OSX and Windows.

I have two KH750 subs & I am trying to use this app but it is only letting me add one sub at the very beginning of the setup process. I have two subs on the network. Really annoying! I came to this app because I didn't get good results with the MA1 system. It sucked INSANE amounts of low end out of the rig. I tried putting some back with the EQ at the end of the process but even 12db shelf didn't put it where I needed it.

Hello. Do I have to have the ipad connected to the speakers at all time? Or can I bring my ipad from home with me to the studio, hook it up, calibrate via the app and then disconnect the ipad and bring it back home (for my kids to watch Pepa Pig on it again haha)?

The KH 750 has a very precise built-in x-over, which fits perfectly to our loudspeakers. It also has very flexible gain setting options and further acoustical options to be able to align it ideally to Neumann KH-line loudspeakers. In combination with our MA 1 - Automatic Monitor Alignment it is even possible to align our DSP loudspeakers automatically. In combination with the KH 750, our analog loudspeakers can then be aligned as well and optimized in their phase response. However, with this flexibility it is of course possible to connect other brand loudspeakers even if we think best results would be achieved in combination with our loudspeakers 😉.

Hi Guido, Neumann.Control supports 1 x KH 750 in one setup. However, it is possible to setup a system with two subs. Therefore, you need to create two identical setups and connect the source to both subs via a Y-cable (split cable) an connect your monitors to one of them. In your app you choose first the one sub in your system, configure it and then create a second identical one. After the alignment please go to manual alignment and reduce the level of the sub in both alignments by 6 dB. What is not possible in this configuration is to control both setups simultaneously to control the level or mute channels.

I do have to agree that I have been waiting for an Android version of the Neumann.Control app for actually a couple of years now. Android phones have such a big place in the market and for many people I'm sure it's a reason to hesistate whether they should go for the KH 750 or not. I will get it eventually, as addition to my KH 120s, but still I don't get the thinking behind the reason why nowadays you would only release an app for iOS phones. I know about the MA-1, however, as WavesOfAwesome mentioned, there's things the app could do, which the MA-1 can't, and also it's obviously only available if you dig a bit deeper down your pocket. I mean I love my KH120s and I'm really looking forward to the sub addition, this is just supposed to be constructive feedback and honest wondering why there's not an Android version of the app.

Basic mono/stereo and sub bypass are essential for mixing. Much more than important. I may buy a Mackie big knob because Neumann doesn't have their "stuff" figured out. Telling us to be patient is pretty nasty. I would have waited to purchase if I had known I had to "be patient" about basic features... Without access to correction I might have just bought 2 krk 12" subs for the same price of the one kh750.

@@GeorgNeumannGmbH ich hatte den KH 750 zum Testen da und hätte ihn so gerne zusammen mit dem MA 1 gekauft. Leider funktioniert das Setup in meinem kleinen Raum nicht gut. Wenn ich aus meinem Heim-Studio ausziehe und die Grünwalder Villa mit 200qm-Kellerstudio mit ausklappbarem Pool beziehe, dann schlage ich zu😊

Hello Neumann Crew :) I love my KH 80 and using Neumann.Control very often. I have a question about this app - is it possible to link eq for two speakers? Actually I need to set EQ separately for each channel, the only possibility is copy one eq setup to another. It's a bit of pain... :) Do you have any ideas, how can I do it easier? Best regards! Hi Matt! As you have already figured out it is possible to copy EQs. It is not possible to link EQs from one channel to the another. Sorry about that! Since this procedure usually only has to be done once, we didn't consider this to be too much of a disadvantage.

Maybe in next update would be an option to link EQ settings between monitors? :) It would be a much more useful :) All the best! Matt

I would expect something more clinical from such technology and speaker DSP system. There's not much scientific approach using an app that is "guessing" your room characteristics. Isn't there a way of combining an acoustical measurement microphone to properly calibrate the system?

I can't believe coming from Neumann, after all these years, that this app is ipad only... At least put a bypass with footswitch on the sub for those of us that want to cut the sub .After many years of waiting i will probably get another brand's sub that can be bypassed unfortunately...

Has anyone reverse engineered the network protocols for the neumann dsp devices yet? I know there must be an IP based command line interface out there that can be midi mapped for my daw to access. Some utility from the hardware testing phase. Would be great if somebody leaked a link so we could start using this sub correctly without turning an iPad into a big stupid remote control and running an extra router. Because frankly this whole personal device as remote is pretty asinine. Look how easy Adam makes it with a simple ir remote. If you have more than one device with an ir remote you can program them both into a single ir master remote control ($15). With this type of proprietary system from neumann I'll be switching apps to access other basic functionalities. Neumann is not helping studios with this control interface. Imagine if every company made you run a separate device app to access basic features. Now imagine that another large company decides to only support Android, or Windows phone. Would turn my desk into an appliance display... Again epic imperious fail by neumann.
