I have truly enjoyed this interview, I’ve always been a fan of the Briscoe‘s. Really shocked me that Jack left at such a young age. I really thought he was older than that when he quit. This really crazy thing is to be honest Jack at age 40 or 41 probably could’ve still stretched anybody in the business. But I don’t blame him I’d rather him go out like he did did he go out 20 years after the fact and look like a shell of himself. Love the Brisco’s always will.

He was an older 41 because he was a chain smoker. That affected him later in life.

Jack was 43 when he retired. Today that feels young because we can see guys who wrestle well past that age. But the way they lived and the care available to preserve yourself like today wasn’t a thing back then. But also have to consider that leaving when he did he’d still been wrestling professionally for 20 years which is a long time. And prior to that he’d had his outstanding amateur career which is a rough sport too. So he’d been on a constant grind for tons of years. And of course factor in the thought of after wrestling for twenty years already taking on that absurd schedule of that time and being on the road 300 days a year. But then also consider they’d sold their shares for a decent sum of money and opened up their body shop so there was something else to go to instead of staying in wrestling. So it makes sense to me why he left when he did. The only thing I wouldn’t get I guess would be leaving right before WM instead of staying for it but then I have to keep in mind nobody knew then the success it would end up being so if you were ready to be done I can see why you’d choose to just be done.

And that hurt me to my soul ... I remember he and Brother Jack as an elite tag team and two guys who were legit no non-sense athletes of my youth ... to see Gerald brown nosing and acting "nervous" around superstars turned my stomach -- I remember in Mid- Atlantic and to a lesser extent Florida that to besmirch the Brisco's Native American Heritage,insult or threaten Gordon Solie or any number of pet peeves the brothers had opened up a can of whoop ass and usually a broken leg via Jack's figure 4 with Gerry diving on it from the top rope -- same with Doc Hendrix/Micheal Hayes acting all scared when the "talent" got mouthy -- I remember a Free bird ass stomping could be gained with a lot less back in the day ..... Vince pisses me off with this every time

While Barry Windham & Mike Rotunda (The Uncle & Dad of Bray Wyatt) are good, I would like to see the Brisco Brothers against Sheiky Baby & Nikolai Volkoff at WM 1. All 4 men are ring generals at that point so I am certain that it would be a great match. :)
@bull7052 жыл бұрын
I'd rather see the Briscos turn heel and take on Windham and Rotundo. I can hear Jerry"s promo now: "Wrestlemania? They should call it Wrestle-lamia. That's why we're taking our WWF Tag Team belts all the way across the Pacific Ocean to Tokyo, Japan.So we'll be defending these belts against Inoki and Fujinami. So best of luck and Sayonarra folks!" Then of course Jack Tunney would come in and say New Japan sold the contracts to them freeing them up for Wrestlemania.Jack then promises to hurt Barry in retaliation.

@@bull705 The Briscos worked with a white-meat babyface team before (one being my idol, Ricky Steamboat). So, I like your idea, sir.

I was curious of Jerry Brisco's net worth, so I checked it out, surprising to me, Jerry's net worth is 52 million, proving to me that Jerry has been real good managing the money's he's made in his career in the professional wrestling industry...

There is a interview where he told his brother, u keep wrestling I just want to go home and rest. I’m taking the first flight down south. He then said Gerald the next one available is to Atlanta so I’ll see u later. So he boarded from Newark nj and flew out of there to Atlanta then went home. According to the interview he was burned out.

Barry Windham did go back to the WWF in the late 80's as the Widowmaker but he didn't stay very long because his dad and brother got in trouble for their involvement in a counterfeiting scandal.

His birthday is September 21, 1941. I think he was 43 about to turn 44 right before WrestleMania. Not trying to be mean, just getting this right. I don’t think Mr. Brisco is thinking he is telling less than the truth but this story doesn’t line up with historical records. My understanding is that Jack didn’t like the direction of the business. If I have to be honest, I think one brother took the high road and another gave in to VKM.

The 70's and 80's were a totally different era than today. Back then, the WWF was constantly on tour and the wrestlers would get injured and worn down due to the brutal schedule. Today, there is very little traveling outside of the TV tapings, so the wrestlers can stay fresher for more years.
