Gerald is my favorite fighter like Roy Jones Jr. Gerald left Emmanuel and went on to a new trainer. Gerald was injured in sparing against an Arab fighter. Gerald blacked out, that was a sign something was wrong, and his new trainer didn't pick up on it. The brain injury from sparring carried over into the Benn fight. If Gerald was with Emmanuel this would have never happened as Emmanuel was always watching and concerned about his fighters. I usually can't watch many documentaries or films about Gman but this was so scientific, it was beautiful. This guy really did his homework, ....well done!
@FeralDropbear

The original brain injury was thought to have occurred in the first Jackson fight, you can actually see him returning to his corner and start the weird blinking that he exhibited in the Benn fight. A second Jackson fight probably didn’t make it any better.

But all fighters deserve absolute respect. Nobody gets there overnight and it is not easy or else why arent you reading this not who we are watching. There can be fun n games but end of the day any and every fighter deserves respect win or lose.

His habit of tapping his shorts seems similar to how some MMA and Muay Thai fighters pull up their shorts as a resetting habit. Japanese martial arts have zanshin, which is their own way of resetting back to stance and to regain a state of readiness. I think this is something that combat sports needs to explore and formalize more to instill discipline and defensive responsibility in the midst of fighting or sparring.

How many dogs do you have to murder before you understand it’s a horrible thing to do? Let’s take Mike Vick for instance-dude was coming up with new ways to execute the dogs as if he was bored of the old ways. You either have God in you or you don’t, regardless of background and upbringing. You put an innocent animal in to get torn up, hear its cries as it’s brutally killed, and you don’t feel anything? Gtfo of here. If you don’t, you don’t know God. Dogfighting is sick af, I mean they use some dogs as bait dogs.

People never hear the full and honest story about McClellan after the fight with Benn. McClellan made it out of the hospital relatively O.K after his brain injury. He would have never boxed again but he could have had a decent life after boxing only if he had listened and taken the doctor's advice! McClellan was told to wait for a year and not to get back on a plane to America because that air pressure could easily cause complications to his brain injury. At first, McClellan did heed the doctor's advice and stayed in England. After 6 mounts had passed, McClellan decided to fly back against the doctor's advice. unfortunately, McClellan would suffer complications and his brain swelled leaving him in the state he is in now!

Devestating puncher that came outta nowhere, but did so on Showtime (which was always a notch below HBO) and right when Roy Jones started to explode. His biggest wins were against a small middleweight with a suspect chin and his most well-known fight was the fight against Benn. Considering both Hopkins and Jones were his contemporaries @160 it's not all that surprisng that his talents are somewhat overlooked. If you can't beat Benn @168, you're certainly not going to beat Roy Jones at any weight, but I think he might've beaten Hopkins at that point in Bernard's career. Both fights still would've been very interesting.

Rabbit punches off benn 18 in total and benn new what he was doing allso the headbutt ref should of given gerald time . And id say benn was on steroids thats why he collapsed and didn't have a test. @@BoxingLife Yea and he ended up with King and that twat with the Sailors`s hat and got paid what $50,000? JHC. Benn`s trainer watched GM himself wrapping his own hands cos sailor boy Stan couldn't do it. Imagine that - wrapping yr own hands!!? There can only be 1 reason GM left ES. Money. Be careful what you wish for. Tragic tale. Forever soured what is for me the most devastating fighter other than prime Iron Mike. Nobody, not Hagler, SRL, hell not even RRJ puts fear in me like GM does.
