OTOFIX D1 Lite - In-Depth Honest Review

As a professional automotive mechanic I do a hands on review of a Otofix D1 Lite scan tool that is powered by Autel, it is very capable and comparable with the OEM scan tools but in a budget price range. Historically this scan tool would be much more expensive for it's capabilities, I have used many different Autel's in the past and this is a great option for the current market.
In this video I give an impartial review of the OTOFIX D1 Bidirectional scan tool after 5 weeks of use in a professional workshop.

Fuel pump authorisation is a software bug on the FL2/ Evoque. I use an iCarsoft & it comes up every time I run a scan.

I have an Autel MP808K (No VCI) with a expired subscription and the charge is US$230 to update. Many eBay sites that have this tool with a 2 year subscription with VCI for the same price (and now Bi-directional) These units have become a throw away like printer ink refills

are you forced to update it? Can't you just use it with the current software or does it block you after 2 years?

@baradona11 Not sure. Some scanners limit functionality after subscription expiry. However, paying the same price as a replacement unit is a bit too steep. Are you forced to update your phone?

Nice review. I need one that will program/calibrate ECU's like the the ones that control liftgates on SUVs. Does it retract electronic park brakes and bleed brakes?

How about if I decide not to update after the two years free update. Can I still use the scanner? With no issues. Would VCI still be active. The updates are too expensive for someone who wants to keep one for his personal cars. This tool is $270 on eBay right now but why would I want to buy it if the update is $230

Yes, it still works without updates. You just won't be able to scan cars that are newer than your software level. If your software is at 2023 and the car is 2024, you are very limited on functions.

Looks good that's about it... Junk when it comes to certain vehicles... for example Chrysler Products or Chrysler Pacifica. Need to buy into subscriptions!! Also throws many stupid errors even after all updates performed. Like you mentioned shows certain services but when you go to use them prompts not supported!!

It gives you the possibility to send commands and test some modules of the vehicle, for example you can test if windows up and down work without pressing the window switches in the car.

i found this to be very poor was difficult to register machine out of box then it wanted updating but could not get to update the quality was poor not very strong tried to connect to sevral vehicles for no coms or asking for updates the box it came in was good just not the machine and asked for updates and $119 battery goes flat had better diag with a £20 scan tool poor conection quality needs memory card yes lots of functions but wont cover many models

Did you buy from a approved seller? This sounds nothing like what others have experienced while using this scan tool. One user that I know has 1 year approx of usage and it has been flawless. For me it worked very well and I can say that it's excellent value for money. I hope your problems ease or you get a refund from the supplier, you should not be having those issues.
