in my 2010 outback i had to hit the lock and unlock based on the code from the fob. example being if the number was a 6 i would have to hit the lock 6 times and hit the unlock to switch it. I forgot how but I did it that way

Would this be able to do pre-can programming? Like on a 2006 Wrx with an ecu replacement causing a no start for no matching key since they’re married to the ecu? I’ve had issue finding someone local that could do it. Subaru will only do it if I have it towed and they install a brand new ecu!

What would the diagnostic part of this tool be compared to. Would the Phoenix plus also program new keys? Looking for all in one as cheap as possible. Really just need to program additional key for my new to me 2015 mazda cx5. Also would like a new scanner as i currently own a otc encore and it has a bit to be desired. Watching as i type so this has same diag capability as d1 pro?

You should do comparison between this one, topdon lite2, and topdon 900bt. They all look good but I really don’t know which one to get. Also, does this one offer CVT relearn and other stuff that topdon 900bt offers?

I have this it's good for keys but if you want to read codes you must pay extra. The Autel im508 you don't need to pay extra

"Add a key" is best, when you only have one KNOWN good key. If adding is successful, THEN, delete all keys MAY be viable (unless rewrite is locked)

I’ve never installed a Subaru remote start before, but I don’t think that programming is required for it.

Im508s is better and can be had for 849 out the door. Diagnostics arent extra either. Also comes with otofix watch. Can be sold if you dont want it. Comes out cheaper and has better hardware.

Unrelated question: I was going to replace the MAP sensor and the PCV hoses and figured looking at your videos would be the way to go. Do you have anything here on the MAP Sensor? It looks like a simple item, but for some reason it's being valued at around $300.00 ??? It feels like consensual theft at that price, especially without understanding why/how something so simple looking costs so much.

Just purchased my IM1 on ebay a couple weeks ago for $750. All features including IMMO & diagnostics were unlocked with 2 years of free updates thru 2026 for both. I checked the renewal after the 2 year update expiration and it shows $199 for an additional 2 years thru 2028. It's an awesome tool to replace my Autel 906BT. Already made a 2nd key for my 08 BMW 528xi in less than 5min at a cost of $24 for the blank KeyFOB!

I’m a bit confused here. I think you would be able to do exactly what you just did with the Otofix D1 Pro, no? I think the key specific parts to this are the device you didn’t use for smart keys. Also, you mention that the diagnostics is the same as the D1 Pro but you didn’t activate the diagnostics. I’m Not sure what you mean here

This tool is primarily for key and fob programming. That’s what you get when you buy the tool. For $139 more, you can activate the diagnostic side of the unit. The D1 Pro doesn’t have the immobilizer functionality of this tool.

Mr.Subaru, thank you for your videos. I do learn a lot from them and do time to time maintenance on my 2017 Forester 2.5. Recently I had to replace TPMS/RKE module. So now I have to reprogram my both key fob and relearn tpms. I have Xtool A30M so I don't want to spend $700+. Please suggest tool that can do both but won't break my bank. Thank you.

If you have a key there are on off on off on off insert new key procedures for just about every car. For free. What people WANT is to program a brand new key cuz they lost their only working key but had a dumb spare. This tool is useless
