For a medium multitool, is it necessary to have locking tools? Because purpose of medium multitool is to perform something light quickly. If you require locking tools, chances are, you dont use medium size mtt but a proper mtt or even the actual dedicated tool. Putting lock mechanism in small or medium size mtt often make them bulky, not pocket friendly and lose its purpose of being able to be brought everywhere. Thats where i think vic really understand what their tools are for hence do not put locks in their 84,85,91 and 93mm models. These mtts are designed to be pocket friendly, not bulky and only to perform quick light tasks.

I've never been a Gerber fan, and to this day, I'm confounded that they had a US military contract. However, I'll grudgingly admit that this MT has some serious merit. If the driver locked, I would surely buy it. Until then, Ima stickin' with my Leathermans.

I think you got this right, only... even if not a lock-up for the driver, a stiffer open position. Locking would be great of course. And for the awl too... that collapses too easily, also.

Im amazed at how often I need scissors. Love this tool
@randomknowledge31163 жыл бұрын
Don't know if anyone will read this but it does actually have a lanyard hole at the end of the knife by the bottle opener. A very small hole but big enough to fit a key ring.

Excellent review. Do the scissors cut as well as the Victorinox scissors?

Nice profile, would have traded the awl for a can opener, and scissors for needle nose pliers, but I like this. Nice price also

Aren't Corkscrews a popular addition to these small tools because you can use them to untie knots? I think the Cork is supposed to be more of an outdoorsy version and the screw more an urban version of the armbar.

Wow, this is a pretty sweet tool for EDC use!! I would still prefer to carry a full size multi-tool on my belt, but this would be perfect as a back-up in my pack. It would also be a great starting point for someone just getting interested in EDC gear.

Darth Croll agreed or great for a little kit.
@darthblade20164 жыл бұрын
@@livingsurvival Exactly! As it stands, great for an edc kit, but i could definitely see value in this for an outdoor/fire kit as well if they added a wood saw too or in place of the bit driver.

Behind the cutting tools I reach for the pliers second. For me the leatherman is the bomb.

This tool has some really good ideas - just not the best execution - which I think describes alot of Gerber products. They just need to give a little more attention to the details and they could have some real winners. As it is I think alot of folks end up buying Leatherman instead.

I just picked up the Slim version of this. The difference in price was $5. I now wish I would have bought this version. Not because I need the extra tools but because it looks more beefy. It feels strange having a tool as thick as a thick pen.

I historically dislike gerber for many reasons but their armbar is perfect pocket EDC with no print sad thing is like the SOG power pint few realise it, more complain, so the echo chamber destroys good cost effective easy sharpening/maintenance minimalism for lesser poorly thought out revenue kickers lol Angling of tools physics meaning the tool shouldn't close and can't if held on the gerbers rounded comfortable thumb cut out driver shank (and certainly can't cut you). Hilarious most drivers on most multitools weren't locking and worked even uncentred and unrounded much like the vaunted yet sadly inferior LM skeletool that can't be used for 20 screws or to whittle of 20mins w/o killing bones in your hand nevermind costs you 2x 12hr work shifts after tax if you loose it/goes walkabout/gets confiscated.

I think the hammer is a bit more like a smasher. Smash some walnuts, pecans, ect

That is interesting that this Armbar does not come with the key ring because the slim version has that.

Not really a bushcraft/survival style multitool. Definitely more of an around-the-house or general urban edc. I know that non-locking screwdriver is a major drawback but i dont think it's the type of tool for driving a screw as much as just tightening or loosening a screw. I just wish there was a way to modify it for a stronger lock up. As is, you kinda need to choke up on it to actually get some good torque

I will tike my Swiss Army Knife or a Leatherman if I want something bigger. So if you like this tool buy it now, it will not be around for long, it will be removed from the market be Gerber.

Scrap the scissors on that drive and add a small wood saw and I'd buy that for a micro psk set-up

why don't they make a ratcheting driver on these things...they aren't much bigger than the normal driver these days. I'd rather have a saw than a scissors as well. I like it, but I wish instead of making them look cool..the'd make them more functional...

POCKET CLIP!!!! WHY WHY WHY...in 2021there is no excuse on why these companies do not think of incorporating a pocket clip into these designs. No one wants to dig around in their pocket to get out a tool they need in the moment they need it. Instead of the plain frame by the knife blade just incorporate a pocket clip. Just like their center drive multi tool, if it had a dang pocket clip it would put leatherman out of business...I dont get it...oh well leatherman it is.
