I'm so envious of you being able to have the relationships you've had with horses. When I was 10 I had an unrelated accident that loosened my top foot teeth. At the time I had been learning to be a show jumper. My mother forbade me from riding again. I've aways loved horses. At 71 with scoliosis and other spine problems, it's still a dream. I did complete my higher education, raised 2 wonderful children and have 4 Grandchildren, but I still love the smell of horses. I'm so very happy for you.

I'm blessed to have gotten back on at 53, three years ago. A dream made true by the kindness of the woman who owns the mare I ride. Most of my barn friends are 70+...many with mobility issues, myself included. They all own their horses, and they are all gaited. It makes riding so comfortable and Enjoyable. We all just love the horses...several just do liberty work. I've ridden/tended to all their horses and all of them are lovely. I hope you do get a chance to even visit a stable and see/smell/touch and hear some horses one day...I never thought I would ever ride again, so you never know! Hi from Canada! 🐴

Animals have this amazing healing ability. I was diagnosed with PTSD and now working in personal care homes, to help with COVID19 outbreaks. After properly sanitizing myself, I hold my cats. I literally stand still and listen to then purring. Animals are healers! Beautiful done again, Geri! ❤✌

Aww as someone who recently lost my dog of 13 years, I've been so depressed lately. It kind of feels more isolating with the death of a pet I think, because either you think that other people don't treat it the same as the death of a loved one, or they actually don't treat it as the death of a loved one. So you feel a bit embarrassed talking about how it can leave you struggling. Beauty's life had value, he taught Geri a big life lesson (that she spoke of, and maybe more that we dont), and that is why animals' lives are so valuable to us. I also enjoyed hearing Geri talk about her feelings as she turned 30 and her struggle and progressions since then. Thanks Geri! RIP Beauty.

That line rang a bell with me too. I'm not a brave person (I'd rather die than get up on a stage and sing!) and I lost my nerve for riding a few years ago but I persevered and now when I come back from a ride I do feel brave for having done it and actually enjoyed it again! I think the part about the pleasure outweighing the fear too, because even when I felt sick at the thought of getting on my horse something stopped me from giving up. I've had my own horses for 40 years and it's just in me I guess. Some part of me remembered how it used to feel when I wasn't petrified. I've heard other singers or actors say that they still feel the fear before they perform but they enjoy it too and in the end it's worth it. I suppose everyone gets the stage fright at some point, but some learn (like Geri) that it's all part of the whole experience, and others find it overwhelms them and give up. This video was an unexpected little Gem I have to say. I only clicked on it on a whim but I really enjoyed it, thank you.

Lovely video, horses have a way of touching your soul, there is always one which you will hold dearly in your heart because they taught you so much about yourself and the special bonds we make with them.
